Wait 'Huge' bear in PA? what.. 300, 500 pounds?
Y'all need to drive in Alaska, or Canada's Northwest Territories.. I'd say "Kodiak" - but it's pretty much all straight truck.
1000 pounds of bear is big. 1300 pounds is large. 1500 is huge.
Adult male Kodiaks stand about 5 feet at the shoulder - when on all fours.
THERE's pucker factor. Meet a sow in the late spring - by yourself. 20 feet away. On the shore of a lake. Surrounded by alder "trees". a half a mile away from your Jeep. No gun. Dog took a powder.
I didn't need new underwear. I needed a whole new wardrobe. -
ROFL!!! I sure as hell was not gonna stop and ask it's weight Lurch! You can keep the bigger ones to yourself, thank you LOL That one was bad enough. I had to stop, take a deep breath, and remove the seat cover from my rear as it was!

SEE, Lurch?!
Just as I thought, ----
size
DOESN'T matter.
At least, not when it comes to bears.

Just hit my first deer a few days ago. Couldn't do nothing to avoid it. You (well at least I do) see so many deer on the side of the road that you think nothing of it. Well, that night I had already passed up a few deer. This one was eatting some grass with some of its friends then it did that "look" they do and didn't know which way to run. Before I know it the thing jumps out on the road at the same time I'm passing it.
BAM! I yelled "OH ####!" and my partner was in the bunk and he said "let me guess, hit your first deer?"
Broke the headlight on passanger side and bumper was lodged close to wheel. Drove it to next truck stop and our company is all about safety so we had to wait an hour for repair to tow us and the truck to the ryder shop in harvey illinois to obtain a new tractor. -
i once came around a left curve ~10 miles south of pagosa springs, colorado on southbound us84, and i saw that an entire herd of deer was in the road. when i saw them, i immediately said to myself, "yep, i'm gonna nail one of them, possibly two." bambi tried to outrun the truck and lost. the damage could have been much worse if i was going faster, and if the deer had been an adult. i hit it going about 30mph.

I had three deer run out full speed going right to left at an angle, almost trying to outrun me but not quite. It was on a narrow two lane in WV with someone tailgating me, full load, about 30mph. I'd slowed a bit for the curve and the deer warning sign. I put the right tire on the white line and stomped the brakes (railroad ties don't shift much.) Missed the deer by about 3 feet and didn't get tailgated any more on the way out.

That was 3 weeks ago. Our other driver actually hit a deer. One of the guys loading me was trying to sell me a cattle guard for his truck.

I don't even slow down for a deer, It's not little animals like deer I worry about, thats why I have a big moose bumper on my truck, with lots of extra lights so you can see well at night, you need it when you run up here in Canada. last week alone I had about 5 moose walk out in front of me, and seen more than a dozen of them along side the road,

I wonder if there was a passenger in there before the other passenger boarded?
