If you have to replace drums, pads etc plus labor..it can get quite high..I'm looking at the receipt for my Kw W900 now..

8300 bucks parts and labor..6 new drums, pads, seals..not quite 10k but still hurts....The truck was 2 yrs old when I bought it...

Price of getting your own authority will vary fro state to state..at the time I lived in oklahoma..and I had checked into it..total for all the fees permits etc in the state of oklahoma was just under 11 grand..

Texas I hear is cheaper but I'm not back to that point yet and probably won't be for a few years so I'm not worried about it now..

anyway..been trying to attach a pic of my baby mustang..soon as I finger out the particulars yall can see my pride and joy..and when I'm drivin agan I may take i along..lots of AMA sanctioned fields all over the us that are pretty accessible..even to a bobtail tractor

Wow those pictures are amazing. I am definitely bringing my camera with me when i drive. I like the idea of the RC stuff but i can see a problem with flying them at truck stops.

That one is definitely not a truck stop flyer..BUT..if you want to fly, join the AMA..it doesn't cost a lot and most RC clubs are off major highways and a lot of em are actually near industrial areas (because of noise and distance from airports) so its not unfeasible to bobtail to one after calling the club that runs it for some flying..some clubs charge a small fee for "guest" flyers but as long as you have an ama number you are welcomed..also tons of rc flyins every year all over the US so you could bobtail in with your pride and joy in the upper sleeper berth..take your two or three days off during the flyin and have a ball..most people camp at the flyin site or hotel nearby and all are friendly..could probably carpool with them to the hotel and the fields are locked when not in use so the truck is secure..multiple birds..one stone and tons of fun

As because you would never have more than a gallon of fuel in the flight box you don't have to worry about dot regs either

The other thing about flyin that one near a truck stop is the noise..she's loud..had to get a custom muffler for the engine to get it to fit in the nose..(kit designed for 26 cc to 35 cc engine..she's got a 35 cc LOL) and the muffler is basically not baffled..If I run it at the house at all the neighbors get all kinds of pissy at me..LMAO

There's a bigger one made by CARF models I will definately get down the road..runs a 50 cc engine and swings a 21 inch 4 blade...Different paint scheme of course as well as a chanel for canopy open/close...they want 3k for the kit not indluding radio/servos and engine...84 inch wingspan

engine about 400..radio will be in neighborhood of a grand plus servos at 30 per which would be 11 of em
