What the hell does this have anything to do with learning about the company. I swear somebody starts a thread so people can learn about a particular company and you trolls and hijackers have to come over here and screw it up every single one I read about a company you people have to turn the conversation around you make me sick. I'm a Christian myself I believe in God. I don't believe in the gay / lesbian lifestyle. And a whole lot of other things that go against my beliefs. But when I am on here trying to learn about a particular company I could give one rats rear end about a particular company's beliefs short of them worshipping Satan himself the OP started this thread to let people know about the company. Not to tell you about their beliefs nor do we care about yours. Please people have some courtesy and quit hijacking threads

I believe you got @radioshark wrong. I don't believe that's what he was trying to sa, or do...at all.
He was just clarifying @spectacle13 remark about "birth control" and HL's lawsuit.
LOTS of people don't understand what the lawsuit was about, bc it's been so miscontrued.
But, I will agree with you that others do come, and try to Hijack a thread about a company.
I don't believe that's what @spectacle13 was doing either.
He/She offered information on something I didn't include.
Could that have been asked by someone? Yes, it could've been.Last edited: Dec 27, 2016

Also, before someone else jumps in here....I will say this.
HL will PUT you on a route. You don't get to pick and choose a particular route....but they will make sure it fits where you live....and, what they have available at the time.
I was put on a route that I didn't really like at first, bc I've run that part of the Country before....over, and over again.
However, 2 weeks after I was hired, my MGR called us and asked if we would like to change routes (and, I didn't even say anything to him about beforehand). He told us where we would be going, and it was OUR decision if we wanted it.
We took that route...and I'm currently on it.
At HL...if YOU ask for another codriver (for whatever reason)....then that codriver gets to choose if he wants to keep the truck, and the route....or if he wants something different.
If YOU ask off the route....or different codriver, then you could possibly lose the truck, and the route.xlsdraw, #1don and Crusader66 Thank this. -
Also, another thing I "forgot to add". You will start at .22 (hub to hub...ALL miles driven) for anything under 900 miles. They DON'T tell you what route to take.
If there is bad weather coming in on your normal route, and if you can avoid it, then all you have to do is call your MGR, and ask if you take a more Northern/Southern route...and they will approve it. It's just simple communication. I have NEVER been denied my request to avoid bad weather.
900 or more miles....then you get a .02 bump in pay.
I deliver to 5 stores in a 2 week pay period, and EVERY ONE of my stores is further than 900 miles.Crusader66, xlsdraw and #1don Thank this. -

Okay...again, another important tidbit I forgot to add.
When I first started, my vacation was 1 week after my first year.
They have since changed their vacation schedule...and, now, you get 1 week upon completion of your first 6 months. 2 weeks after your first year. So, after 1 full year, you get 3 weeks vacation.
Also, after each year anniversary of working there....you get a 1/2 cent raise in pay. You don't even have to call, and verify it. It's automatic.
NOW, they are very strict on some policies. Better not speed in a construction zone. When I first got hired, their policy was ANY WARNING, OR TICKET 11 miles over, and it's automatic termination. They have since changed that to 15 mph.
Any accidents that happen are case by case basis.
If you get a warning, or ticket that "goes on your record" for over 5 mph, then your truck gets turned down to 68 until it falls off your record.
Our trucks are governed at 68 peddle, and 70 with cruise.Crusader66 Thanks this. -
If you, as a driver, likes to go to different parts of the Country every day, or every week, or every month....
Then HL is NOT the place for you.
Unless my MGR calls me/us, then we go to the same stores every week.
We get to know the employees, and the MGRS of that store.
Some are more personable than others.
Hell....I got some home-baked cookies yesterday from a female associate at my Ohio store yesterday.
I took the MGR and his associate some Fried Pies that he wanted to try.
It's just getting to know people at the places you deliver to.#1don and Crusader66 Thank this. -
