If I ever listened to the "word on the street" I would be sitting some place on wellfare with an Obama 2012 sticker on my rusted out '87 Escort.

If you wont haul anything for less than $2 a mile you should be busy. None of my rates have gone down and out of NC and VA for a van or flat i can get rates above $2 a mile all day long most $2.50 and more. Stop calling cheap ### brokers.

I have seen rates go down as well in some areas. As someone said, supply and demand.

Of course you can get $2.50 or better back to the NE but by time you figure out the cheap rates out of there and the tolls you back under $2.00

All my loads out of NE pay over $2 a mile most $2.50 or more. As i've said before need to go direct and stop using brokers. Brokers know what lanes are easy to find trucks for and low ball the rates but the money is in the load there just not passing it along. I know of loads that pay close to $2.75 a mile out of the NE but the brokers move em out of the NE for around $1.35 a mile. One of the direct shippers i haul for as loads now out of VA,NC and Sc going to TX, OH,TN,IN and IL all over $2 a mile actually the lowest is $2.25. all flatbed loads.
