I'm painting the back of my frame and am going to get the slider sandblasted.

Curious, how do you remove the air cylinder from the sliding assembly?
I've got the fifth wheel off so it's easy to see.
Any special tools? I used the search fuction and no results.

A bolt and nut at each end of the air cylinder.

No special tools... just wrench and socket with ratchet.
    it is held with bolts/nuts

    ^^^^^^^^Not that easy guys.^^^^^^^^
I did get it out, but had to fab up a spring compressor to collapse the two springs to get to the 1/2" pin that attaches the cylinder to the "locking dogs". It's an ingenious failsafe design holding the pins in place but not a lot of fun to disassemble.

yes ur right, to compress the dawg springs there is a special c-clamp tool u can buy, but a regualr clamp will usually work fine. the bolts in the end of the dawgs are to set the adjustment in the slider track. the bolt stop the dawgs from pushing in tight in the track, there should be a bit of slack (or play) between the dawgs and the track so they dont seize in the track.
