Hi richerdman, I'd like to thank you for being honest about Holland, and thanks for the helpfull information. I live in Salem, Oregon. I have eleven yers of OTR with no tickets and no accidents. I used to live in Pa., and Mn. I've doing food grade tank for the last three and a half years, but I am sick of running only west coast. I have always kept Holland on the back burner. I am picky about where I work, and it sounds like Holland might be a match for me. I need a pet friendly company, with APU's and refrigerator in the truck. Just personal preferance. What I'm looking to do is run all 48, preferably north east, and back to west coast. Hows the home time? Out 2-3 weeks, or more like 4? How many days at home once you get back? I've never had them elog things. Kinda skeptical bout that. Again thanks for the input.

I have been driving for holland for almost 2 years now. They have been great so far. Ruth Holland is the one in charge of home time. If you get home one day later than the day you asked to be home she will throw in an extra 2 or 3 days. Very sweet lady. She goes more by how many miles you drove rather than how many weeks you were out. Generally if you stay busy for 4 weeks, which is the norm, you can squeeze in 5 to 7 days off before you get dispatched out again. I usually stay out 5 weeks and take 7-8 days off. As long as you communicate and let everyone know ahead of time of any problems you should be able to stay busy and like it here. I have been in every part of the country almost every month except for the northeast. I have been there only 4 times since I started here almost 2 years ago. And no,we don't get any referral bonuses so there is no reason for us to sugarcoat anything about the company.

Thank you for the information Jack. Is there not much freight going to the north east, or is it just a personal preferance of yours to not go up there, or is it just luck of the draw? Are there 110 outlets in the truck powered by the APU, and is 1500 the maximum watt inverter they would allow? Do all the trucks have built in refrigerators? Thanks. Mike. ( "JRT" is Jack Russell Terrier. I'm a fan of the breed)

There is one outlet in the bunk just underneath the bed and 2 in the front below the dash. Not sure if 1500 watts is the max they allow but the inverters they sell are 1500-watt inverters that they mount right behind the driver seat and it is hardwired into the truck's batteries. Most of the trucks have built-in refrigerators but there are still a few that came in without it. As far as the northeast goes,it just isn't a major reular lane for us. I actually don't mind going to the northeast. The parking and traffic has gotten a lot better than years before. If you do go to the northeast and get empty on a thurs. there is a good chance you will deadhead to saint albans,VT for a ice cream load going all the way to Henderson,NV. We do that lane every Fri. of the week. -
Sounds like a pretty good bunch of people. Don't suppose they hire school grads?
-
Not that I know of. I think they want 2 years or more. You can call and ask though. 1-800-800-2635. Ask for Ken or Denzil.
-
Dont bother calling, 2 years it is.

Rich,
How much experience do you have to have OTR to drive for them? I hear all the time that they are the best to work for!
