And I am not bashing SNI but I don't see how people there make money without working 24/7. Maybe that's the problem @Pepper24 you are taking what I'm saying and comparing it to SNI.??

This. The only thing i know about the big pumpkin is what i see on these forums. I get the impression from the post i read that in order to make good money you have to run your ### off. 3 and 4 short loads a day all week long with very little time off. That sounds too much like work for me.
@Pepper24
Read my post again. I said i could make that payment, not that i currently am. My truck has been paid for since the summer of 07. July i think, maybe june. While i have every intention of getting every last mile out of it that it can give me, eventually i will need to buy a new one. And when i do, i will use some of the money I've been saving for the last ten years of no truck payments. i will either write a check for the full amount so as to not have a payment or i will put a good 30 to 50k down on it to make the payment much lower.
I never said id want a 3k a month payment, i said i could make that work, at the carrier i am with pulling the loads i do, without putting a big stress on the household finances.
As for clearing 3k a week? When you get 500 to 650 to run a 50 to 150 mile load all week long and supplement it with a 750+ mile run paying 1800 for the weekend it's not hard to do at all. You just won't see that money doing drop and hook dry van fright at a big box mega. It's all about the kind of loads you pull.
Work smarter, not harder.Hegemeister, gokiddogo, BoostedTeg and 1 other person Thank this. -

I don't think your being honest to claim you can clear 3 grand every week you say you can clear 150,000 pretty easy.maybe make not keep and I really don't understand not wanting to keep operating cost low as possible because you might want take 6 months off your pay 2500 payment for 5 years . Your truck was paid you must have traded it in and kick no money in. Just because you might want to take 6 months off.

I understand there are differant cases. Like maybe your brother in law owns a brokerage co . Clearing 3 grand a week or clearing 150,000 is not realistic

Your still stuck on 2500 after I say it's less. You also have dry freight in your head. But believe what you must. What did someone post? Just because YOU can't do it must mean it can't be done? Well something like that. LOL

Guess I will toss in a comment...
First, a $3k/month payment would make me a bit nervous... Not been driving long enough to make such a leap.
So, not an O/O here, yet, but the company I drive for can give me 3k miles a week... They have a new program that pays like $1.03/mile on every mile. So even not running independent I can see it working... Running 2+ weeks for the truck and rest for me... Would be tight and no cushion.
If you are fully independent and not needing to split the rates with a company, I would say it's probably doable, especially if some here are saying they can or are doing it.
(Not crunching full numbers so I am probably missing a lot... Thus why I am still a Company Driver... lol)Oxbow Thanks this. -
At a buck zero 3 i don't care if you get 10 k miles a week you will not make money even with a paid off truck.Oxbow, roadmap65, Pedigreed Bulldog and 4 others Thank this.
