In all seriousness, I just do not understand why any of the big companies would not structure these deals such that a young person getting into trucking would have a good chance of making it. At least so that if they minded their business and worked hard, that they would earn at least good wages until that first truck was paid off, and then start to reap the rewards of their effort. Seems to me like the company would stand to realize more profit, or at least as much profit and better relations with all, if they made the opportunities doable. Giving the lease/purchasers incentive to perform with a realistic carrot hanging if front of them would seem to me to be a better philosophy.
Maybe some companies do, and the type of folks that cannot purchase a truck by their own means may not pan out all the time, but the loyalty to the company for giving them a realistic chance should be rewarded with better service to that company's customers, and in turn provide the company with greater opportunities for freight at better rates.
    Guess I'm just naïve.

These companies like the high turn over rate. It’s just the way it is the world pretty much is that way now sank or swim. They aren’t doing anything that’s not spelled out beforehand if the op can’t count they really don’t need to we are now on ELD it’s a calculator, text messages, gps, and soon it’ll be the Driver...

Recruiting,DM,Brokerages,Drivers, and Customers lie and they like second class but then it’s the new way. Respect and honesty integrity in this world is treated as weakness.

I suppose so, but the high turn-over rate has to be expensive for the company, not to mention the learning curve cost.

That's the part I don't understand. Maybe there's something here I'm missing but how does a company with 90 or 100 percent turnover even function?
It costs money to train people and new people screw up, that's a given. The start up costs for a new driver can be huge until they get enough experience to quit doing dumb things and costing you money.
C'mon guys, educate me. How does a company put up with high driver turnover and still survive? I think I know some of the answers but I'm missing some too.

Just pure strait up greed. And the overhead associated with the mega's. Throw in the cost of covering the trucks and freight in the ditch, not to mention the WTF amounts the company saves on taxes, workman's comp, insurance.

    Just straight up greed.

But that’s why they mostly use lease purchase drivers to move that freight. All starter companies have Lease trucks to offset those cost in addition to brokerages. I pulled a load for Cowan it paid me 700 to go from Houston to Orange TX. When they would have paid their contractors less than half.

I think they just have a business model we don't know or understand , I remember many years ago NAVL had a yard full of cabovers they would sell to almost anyone for 2500 down and payments , but everyone was failing and they were selling some of the trucks 20 plus times . The model probably worked and they made money , no matter the success of the drivers
