Ive been a welder/fabricator all my life and am considering whipping up my own headache rack for this next truck im going into. I guess im a contract driver and jump around a bit. Figure i own all my gear, why dont i also own my own rack/boxes setup the way i want it to be? I saw some sweet shopbuilt gear holsters on pittsburg oil patch trucks recently and keep thinking thats what i ought to do, just build what i want.

Anyone got any good pics of shop built headache racks or drom boxes?

    Oxbow Thanks this.

Nothing special just general flatbed. I dont like conventional headache racks that become a big shopping cart of every piece of junk you toss in that you cant find again without emptying the whole dang thing. Big trailer boxes would be nice but i dont think theyre gonna have any on the lease and im not buying them. Im taking the job to make money, not spend more. I have the steel on hand for whatever i decide to do. I want a place for everything and everything in its place.

Some of the nice racks I’ve seen over the years. At least the ones I can post ad not get banned.

Agreed, side mounted chains was what i saw on that heavy hauler in PA. Those are nice setups. Ive got box envy.

If you're handy, you can add shelves and whatever else you need inside the box to make things neater. An enclosed rack doesn't HAVE to turn into a rummage bin.
