    I would suggest not skimping on your dunnage and go with oak. It is capable of handling more weight and is far superior than pine. For Vboards, I made mine from 1x4's and an old strap I found at a shipper. Just cut the straps in 6 inch lengths then attach to the boards at 4ft intervals. I had 8ft Vboards. never got around to making any 4fts
