I think its different for everyone. Different factors dictate how differently everyone runs.
My truck is paid for. My costs and bills are average I believe.
While I can do short runs and be home every weekend. The money isnt there for me and I dont find being home for 2 days is enough. When I come home I like to be home for 7 - 14 days minimum. So I go out for 5 - 7 weeks. Sometimes 8 - 9 weeks out. Then when I come home,.. I have time to get what I need on the truck done,.. I have time to see a dentist, get doctor check up, spend time with my wife, family and friends, go out and have some fun. Then when I wonder where the last 2 weeks went,.. I head back out.
Thats how I run.

I don't mind being out, even a couple months. But my favorite customer is 12.4 miles from my driveway so I get home all the time. In fact, the busier it gets the more I am home. When things are really cooking I only stay in the truck 2 nights a week.
