Does good home time exist driving truck? Not considering the 14/7 or 7/7 with slip setting. Is there any companies that offer decent home time? So far Millis seems like one of the better companies with there home time promise. Would like something 5-6 days out 2 days home in reefer or van.
hometime?

Yes they all offer decent home time, they just never follow through with it.
While on that subject, save yourself the $6000 and the time involved. If this is a concern to you then you are in the wrong industry. The average is 4-6 weeks out. Even if you could drive 5 days and be home 2 how the hell would you make money? Trust me when I tell you, ABANDON ALL PLANS OF BEING A TRUCK DRIVER!!! This is not being negative or bashing you. You are going to spend all that time and money and then realize that you aren't going to be seeing home very often. Don't make me say, "told you so"! This is THE NUMBER ONE REASON NEWBIES QUIT!!!

I've seen many ads that list "home most weekends". Many will try and get you by the house for the weekend, but it may be Friday-Saturday or Sunday-Monday type of scenario.
Once you get done with your schooling, you'll be doing the "on-road training" or "finishing" or whatever companies call it these days. I wouldn't expect to see home much during this period, but only after you get your own truck.
Hope this helps...robngraves Thanks this. -

Thanks American Trucker I did check Epes, I'm out of there weekends home area. And Chompi I realize what this career will involve. I'm willing to put in my time if I have to. But if theres options with great home time why not start with them.

Call me weird but I do not like the weekends. That is when everyone in America is off and overcrowding every single store and street. Cops are out waiting to hand out tickets to make money, young punks are walking around acting like tough guys, constructions crews are shutting down lanes to repave the street which causes 4+ hour traffic, police setup road blocks for the fun of it, drunk drivers swerving all over the road, neighbors invite 50 family members over who like to block your driveway, etc. Man that reminds me, a month ago I was at a stop light on an old narrow street and I promise you that a guy passed me and he had to be doing over 100 mph. I actually got scared since he was so close to my car and he came out of nowhere. It was a guarantee he would have died if he hit something... imagine a small dark narrow old road that you drive 30 MPH and he was going over 100. Because it was a long road on a hill, you could see about 2 miles downward and he disappeared in about three seconds. Anyway, I love taking care of things at either 2 - 3 PM on the weekdays or go to Walmart and Kroger for grocery shopping at 1 - 4 AM. So I would work every weekend I do not care. The only good thing about the weekend is that you see a lot of hot women shopping.

Horsecrap!!
Driver, look at Transport America. They will work to get you home most weekends, and they pay decent too! It's not how long you stay out that determines how much you make week to week, it's how your dispatched when your out there. I roll for a week or two, and then hit the house, and make enough to pay the bills and put some by for toys. I'm comfortable with that. Ain't no way anybody's gonna be a millionare running as a company driver anyway, and I have a life outta the truck. Remember, it's a career, NOT a lifestyle!onetime42 Thanks this. -
Oh I didn't realize that Brisms! Maybe you can teach me some more! So its a career you say? Huh. Very interesting. You say you can make money at this too huh. Weekends off! Great pay! I should look into this career further.

SW, if you realize what this career involves why are you asking questions like home time? Good luck with that.

Your post makes no sense. What does understanding what a career involves have to do with companies home time policy's? Did brsims upset you. lol!
