I get that. The OP hasnt even narrowed what or where he wants to work. For sure has little understanding of how things work. (btw not saying i do).
So, to the OP. Figure out what you want or need out of trucking. Do yur research , apply at the company(ies) that best suits your needs and go from there. -
Dedicated you'll most likely be out 5 1/2 and home every weekend for a 34 hour restart.
OTR/System, at least for my board, you get 5 days off a month to be taken how you choose. Personally, I take off 5 days straight and stay out the rest of the month. Works out to anywhere from 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 weeks out straight, and then 5 days off straight. Or you can stay out 12 and off 2, then out 13 and off 3. However you want to work it.
If you want to be home every weekend, you'd probably have to put in at least 3 months, probably 6 months OTR, before switching over to a regional board, and then you could get home more often if you choose.
They also have slip seat positions where your out 6, off 3, or out 2 weeks home 1 week, and you share 2 trucks between 3 guys.
Again, depends on the oppotunities that are available and the area you are in. Look into it and see what's available around you.
