I think the 10 off has to be consecutive...If you can break that up, I too am interested on hearing that...

But "Legal" and "safe" are sometimes not connected in any way....This is the problem.
You will understand this better when you get out here...In fact many new and wonderful things will become abundantly clear "when you get out here!"
It will....WHEN YOU GET OUT HERE!
We go through this from time to time here....A bright new crop of students comes in and tells us all how they're gonna do it and we all just sort of collectively sigh and say "Here we go again!"
You are not unusual or even the most hard headed one that we've encountered....
But, I promise you this!
When you get out here you are going to at some point say to yourself...."Oh, This is what they were talking about!"
We all know that that time is coming and the true test of your character will be whether you have the gumption to come back here and admit it to us when you find out!
I'm not saying that you'll "break the rules" or anything like that, I'm saying that at some point, You'll have an epiphany and then whether you ever admit it to us or not...You'll understand!
But at least now you are sort of trying to discuss it in a more respectable manner instead of "preaching" to us!
See how easy that was?LandShark, walstib and Texas-Nana Thank this. -
Wow, I wasn't seeking an argument driver, I perceived it as somthing you were adressing me with as nothing was quoted, and posted after my post, I apologise. I wouldn't look for a fight with anyone intentionally, especially a fellow company driver, or someone I respect/like. (I am pre-ed with swift anyway)
Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
There's the 8-2 split but if you try and use it day after day you're going to run into a problem. Just my personal opinion and most likely there's someone who's going to come on here and say they use it every day just fine. LOL # myself -
I agree with you, that sounds like somthing you wanna use for that once in a while 'oh crap' moment o.o
I'll ask Charlie tomarrow more about it and see if he can kick my head in enough to make me understand the thing im thinking about better, that may well be it. -
>>>>You'll have an epiphany and then whether you ever admit it to us or not...You'll understand!
I won't have a problem saying, in the words of Happy Gilmore, "I'm stupid. You're smart. I was wrong. You were right. You're the best. I'm the worst. You're very good-looking. I'm not attractive. !"AFTER I GET OUT THERE! I'm a terrible liar so you'd know if I said it was all peaches and cream when it wasn't...Thanx for the knock in the head!

There's some threads on the forum explaining the split. I never use it but then as a team we just never need to. Plus we're old and like to get to our day off. LOL

The funny thing here is it is us old-timers telling the truth about the industry, with many, many years to back it up. If you become a driver you will see what is what quick enough.
So far companies for the most part have the safety and operation working against themselves. They only want you to run hard when it benefits them.
The drivers are not and never have been the problem, it is dispacher that cave to the demands of the customers.
There are a lot of changes headed for this industry, but getting dispatch to repower loads before they run out of hours would help tremendously. -
It's funny you say this, because I was the same way several years. I said I would NEVER fudge or get creative with my logbook. Low and behold, a hot load was given to me because some other driver failed to tell the company they were out of hours and accepted a load. Well, I was the only one close enough to him with hours to drive.
This was a account they could not afford to lose and had to be there the next morning. I was in Omaha, NE and the load had to be in Salt Lake City, UT by 8 am. I griped about it to my DM but after looking at my logs. I can do this and got creative, made the delivery. I will admit though, I was nervous as hell that night. From that point on, I always got decent loads and my logbook was never questioned about it from the company.
So sometimes you will have to go that extra mile. I'm not saying you have to be illegal to do it but it can be done.
