Usually there’s a steel sleeve, whether it’s part of one of the bushings or separate, I don’t know, for the bolt to go through.

What about the guides on the hood and cowl? Maybe one or both need adjustment, now that bushings are new.
-
It doesn't appear that there's any adjustment on the hood rollers as they are fixed, as are the guides. There is some adjustment in the cowling guides but that appears minimal.
As @HoneyBadger67 said earlier, I'm going to replace the front hinge bolts and bushings next. I know there's some slop there for sure. Whatever is worn is causing the hood to swing to the right, if you're looking at the hood from the front. In turn, that swing to the right causes the hood rollers to miss the guides.HoneyBadger67 Thanks this. -
So you only replaced the one set that was missing, half of it? Should replace all 4 sets, along with sleeves, bolts if needed, everything will be centered and equal.

No, I replaced all of the rubber bushings shown in the pic of my first post on both sides of the truck. In addition, there are two separate "inverted C" bracket hinges that require bolts and steel bushings. In my case, I believe those bolts and bushings are worn as well.
HoneyBadger67 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
That makes sense, you don’t seem like the kind to cut corners. I would have put a wood shim in there, for about a year or so, till it aggravated Me enough, Lol. Did that on my Cab bushings. Which made Me think, maybe Cab bushings are bad, causing a misfit. If you haven’t yet, might want to check them too.

So your hood swings to the right as you opening it? Am I understanding that correctly?
While you are in there replacing bushings and stuff I want to point out that the assembly in the photo you posted has 2 adjustment points. 1 will slide the hood forward or backward when those 2 bushing bolts are loose. If they are not even side to side the hood could swing like you describe. The 2nd adjustment is up and down by way of shims.Rideandrepair and spindrift Thank this. -
When I installed those new rubber spacers that are shown in the first pic, I just cranked down on the nuts. I did notice that the nuts were further out on one side. I thought the bolt lengths were different but I'll check again.Last edited: May 10, 2020

Those nuts are 55 ft lb.
I am trying to upload a photo I took of the hood pivot assembly for 1999 and on 379 page in my Peterbilt book. It has some torque specs and parts layout that might help but, it's fighting me. I'll keep poking away at it.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
