New rubber bushings and j bracket pins/sleeves?
No binding when the hood lowers?
Measure from the bumper to the ground to see if you have a sagged out spring or uneven front air ride. That will cause one side of the hood to stay popped up.

The factory aluminum J bracket and plastic bushing are junk. Automann makes a cheap steel J bracket then I have a local machine shop spin up a brass bushing that replaces the plastic pos. That setup wil last you a lifetime.
I have cross drilled the J bracket bolt for a grease nipple as some people prefer it.spsauerland, spindrift, 062 and 2 others Thank this. -

All brand new j brackets with bushings . Both bumper firewall brackets are even . Figure maybe it was the the cab bushings put those new and still didn’t make a difference

If your bushings are worn out like that, you need the hood hinge kit. I have a 2000 379. The hinges with the bushings are around $600 . The hood rollers maybe missing or worn out. Also you may need to adjust the roller guide. You can do it by yourself. Use pallets and carpet or a 55 gallon drum with a block of wood.
