    Hi,

Is it wrong to hook your straps onto the rub rail when securing a load? I’m completely new to load securement and have been with my trainer for two days; we’re hauling sheet rock sand or something like that and I noticed a lot, if not all, of his straps are hooked to the rub rail; if I recall correctly about 4 days ago during Western Express’s short 3 day load securement course it was said you’re supposed to use the stake pocket which is why I’m a little confused, but could easily be wrong about this/could be a few exceptions maybe.

    Best regards, John

No hooking them to the rub rail is how most folks do it. Not the stake pocket.

My guess is the strap won’t fit in the stake pocket.

I would only do it if the rub-rail had a WLL. Check the frame for a tag with various WLL's listed on it. It's usually up front near the landing gear somewhere.

I dont like it, but have had to do it. It all depends if trailer was made for it.

I go down round spool and over the the far side of a stake pocket back to rail. I only do it were I welded splash guards on.

Dont be to critical of my drawing.

Never cut one, but some may wanna put felt or rubber under pocket.

Simple hook straight to the rail dont cut it.

That’s why I asked, was told rub rails don’t have a WLL, but maybe forgot the part you’re referring to
