One must get started somewhere and if ya ask me , Swift is the best way to go if ya live in the Southwest...

I was approved by these guys today... Sure does sound better than CR England...

And the pay also... 450 a week for the 1st four weeks out with a babysitter.. 500 a week for week 5 & 6.. Then get a truck.. That is after I pass the School in Phoenix..

I figure I will run with these chumps for a year then find a company I would like to lease from....

Before the year is up I would be making 30 cents a mile... And have the new driver blues out of the way...

you might want to check out millis transfer I went there for cdl training . I did not make it in this field I did get my cdl worked for BST and transport america but I have 2 girls at home and it killed me. You dont have kids I think you have a good shot but it is vey tough out there driving all night to get there at 0800 trying to back in some tight spots and much more but you have to go for it because you might love it. Tell you the truth I think I got the diesel in my blood because I think about it every day still look at the trucks when I drive pass them.

 

Hay BigRedLou. I just got done with the swift school and it was no pic-nic but it was good and I passed my DMV test in Gainsville, FL. All I can tell you is that if you don't have 3000 or 6000k for school swift is very good and so what if you have to work for them for a while were else are you going to get training and possibly a job with no otr exp. there is a lot of people with a lot of gripe but you will get a good education at swift. I just did it and got my CDL on hand.

 

You will get taught how to pass your CDL in 3 weeks. You will spend 6 weeks with a mentor. Chances are that it will not be a good mentor. Hope you get lucky like I did and get a good one. I was with them for two years. Get the training, get the tuition paid off, drive as much as you can and keep learning! After a year, get the heck out and hook up with a respectable company!
