I actually have a question now to ask...does anyone know anything about the Westville, IN terminal (or sat station) in that area? Was just curious about it, its about 90 minutes or so from Holland, MI if ever the case I would want to take a load up that way to take time off and visit on occasion (have a friend that could pick me up). Otherwise I may just fly up there if I want to take time off in Michigan, though I enjoy taking the roadtrip in my Jetta TDI more. Its not often I take time off but when I do its usually one of the areas I always go to.

My '12 Pro Star truck so far rides good, but it is slow though. Even though the speedo says I'm doing 65, my GPS speedo from two different apps says otherwise at about 61-62. Had alot of trucks passing me on the interstate when I did the Garland run Monday which somewhat made it frustrating. Not too much a big deal when running mostly local and some regional, but when going out and back it would be nice to go closer to the speed limit; even 68 would be fine. I usually know the truck ECM's usually read the speed sensor different compared to the GPS speedo and even some of the highway "Your Speed Is..." signs. Of course the tire profile could alter the speedo accuracy as well.

I was told that all of the Internationals at the Pasadena yard would be gone by the end of this year so I may not want to get TOO comfortable in my truck yet, as moving things to a different truck can be time consuming having to set up things how you want it.

The Westville In terminal is at a small tank wash there. It is a quiet place and you could drop a non hazmat trailer there or park there overnight. Its right behind a small mom and pop restaurant/ truck stop. I say non hazmat because it really isn't a terminal in the normal sense. No gate, fencing or security. They do have an office with a printer at the tank wash. Last time I was there the dispatcher worked out of her home. This was several years ago so things might have changed.

Are you trying to get to Holland Mi? That's one of the regular dedicated runs I do out of High Point. Its an out and back but they also have a few system loads to the same plant. Might want to ask about them if you ever get through High Point. I often found myself at Westville after delivering one of those system loads. Even one of the out and backs to Holland you could maybe spend a day there after delivering. I have often dropped an empty on the yard Friday night or Saturday morning knowing the tank wash wont touch the trailer before Monday.

Appreciate the info. It will come in handy in case I get the opportunity to take time off up there. After all I used to live in Holland for a few years. I don't want to be a system driver, but would be good to take something up in that area whenever I wanted to make a visit there.

So not much to talk about as far as Westville goes then; I guess it could be more considered a drop yard of sorts lol.

Its a tank wash so there is some activity there. Don't believe its 24 hours though.

I've noticed that my truck speedo has mood swings. Sometimes 65 indicated is 65 actual (according to gps and roadside radar signs) and sometimes its 68 indicated is 65 actual. But it always lets me get up to 64.5-65. I would look at your total miles driven/total hours driving, if its all highway and you are averaging 55 then your speed is around 60. We aren't Schneider so if you truly are limited to 60 I would get your shop to fix that asap.

I just finished doing an approximate calculation on the trip I done to Garland earlier this week. From the yard to the customer it took me 5 hours....usually would take me slightly less going 65. About 287 miles I was averaging about 57, though even without the calculation I could easily tell I was going slower since alot of trucks had passed me...usually when you drive long enough over the years you can easily tell when you're going slow.

I will try to talk to the shop foreman and see if they will be willing to look at it. Usually shops don't like to mess with the truck when it comes to doing any speed limiter adjustments (if needed) in the ECM, but since it's to get the truck to run at the speed the company has it set to, it wouldn't hurt to try.

Ours are being phased out as well due to mechanical issues. Say goodbye to ride comfort and storage space, and hello to a Bulldog's behind. But I guess having the reliability of newer trucks is always nice. What are the odds we'll get one of the new Peterbilts?

I've driven Macks in the past though only daycabs. I had a chance to look at one of the new ones at our yard....storage space royally sucks in the sleeper. Had a driver in the break room today mention that he didn't want to be in any of the Macks. I have yet to see a Pete though but heard that those trucks have automatics in them. I'm not too impressed with the auto's but they do come in handy in traffic jams though.

I didn't know they were autos. I've only heard they have good storage space. I haven't seen one in person yet. I heard the Macks they initially showed to the drivers had storage space, so the drivers were all for them. But I guess they placed orders for a different model. I didn't thoroughly inspect the Mack, but I noticed it lacked the overhead compartments that run all the way around in the Internationals. I guess you can always make your own storage space if you're handy with tools.

We have a Pete at our yard, but don't know the driver who has that truck. Probably sometime if I run into him could ask about seeing the interior. I could make storage space if needed, but of course means more stuff to bring inside the truck.

Today I went to the Flying J and picked up the Uniden Bearcat 880 CB radio. Originally listed for $150 but got it for $100....pretty good deal I would think. I don't use CB's that much but they do come in handy for traffic problems and some shippers as well. They often can work where cell phones may not always work or have any signal.
