There was a time in my hopper pulling dyas that the KS DOT informed us that if we got a overweight ticket that they were gonna go back on the elevator and pull all their records to check for patterns. That pretty much stopped the heavy haul and we ran legal except once and a while we would get thrown a curve ball coming out of the fields.
I hated going to many of the feed mills cause of the paperwork issue. The first few times I didn't have the paperwork since I was home pretty much nightly and already turned it in. The only real issue I ever had was after hauling a load of gravel I had to pich up a load of bean meal. Before I loaded they checked the previous loads BOL and looked over the hoppers and traps. They rejected my trailer cause there were a couple of rocks wedged into the traps track.

Man, Some of these grain merchants (Dispatchers) could drive you nuts. Had a friend call this morning wondering why wasn't hauling on run I usually do. I said no idea nobody called me, of course they said would call if anything came up.

Just wanted to post this . The driver was in his 70's from a local farm . He was waiting to load and a silo collapsed on the cab of his truck , crushing him . http://www.news25.us/Global/story.asp?S=10482652&nav=menu1659_2
wheathauler Thanks this. -
That's strange a concrete bin falling down, I've heard of metal ones. That was really bad luck for the truck driver.
They had a elevator explode in Wichita some years back but that was because of grain dust. -
They had a fire at the Horizon wheat plant in Wichita last week. That's a little scary fire and grain dust. No explosion thank goodness.

I guess that's good he seems to be doing all right. Hope your engine is good for a long time. A oil sample is a good investment.
How long a engine lasts is anybodys guess. Taken care of long time. Few months ago had a dropped valve in my cat, took out entire engine. Put used engine in, with 400,000 miles, hopefully lasts long time. -

I would think a rebuild is much more cost-effective in the long run. It's like a new lease on life for the truck!
Oh and......don't shoot the newbie but........what is an oil sample?
