Was your hopper ok, Pharm? I'm with wheathauler, I'd bet it was more the coal itself than something dragging. I've never hauled coal, but seeing the way the dust sticks to the coal trucks, its surely nasty stuff. But that doesn't explain why the front was harder to open than the back?

I've had the happen with corn, never did figure out what it was. It would change too, one day the front was a bear to open all day, a couple days later the front was fine and the back was stuck.

Wheathauler not really. The boss has been in a mood to get stuff fixed so I'm making hay while the sun shines. I went and got tires on the rock hauling bob friday and I had 4 lug studs broke. We don't have 1 of them little deals you roll under the tires to get em off and roll em out. Therefore either getting the inside wheel or the drum off messed my back up. 1 of those studs was a bear to drive in. I had to take the shoes off. I'm all for fixing crap tho. I was glad to get rid of those Groendyke greasers too. I have no faith in them. Those 2 trucks were Safeway trucks from Cal. that had them. They don't even have blockheaters. Changing oil, blowing out filters, greasing, checking hubs and axle oil, tranny oil, etc. Takes awhile to get 5 trucks done. I'm down to the trailers now and then I guess I'll get back to hauling rocks. They're draining some rice this week so I guess we're bout 2 weeks from starting. Only bout 800 acres got planted in early April tho. The rest will be much later. The last few nights here have dipped into the 50's which really puts the quietus on rice maturity.

Just was talking to farmers I haul for during fall harvest. Didn't think anything would be ready until end of September. Gonna be a late harvest this year for sure. They have 800 to 900 acres of beans which is a lot for them.
Like I said in previous post there is going to be beans out the wazoo around here. -
things don't appear to be slow for me. I have my next 4 load assignments. NC to VA and back, loaded both ways twice in a row.
right now I'm in a shop lobby getting my exhaust fixed. I looked in that trailer.. it is completely black! There goes another $50 and 60 oor miles since wheat is next on the list. -
Dang, thats scary loaded both ways. Been giving your broker flowers?
If I could I would stay away from coal but a load is a load. I would much rather haul wheat than coal. Actually I didn't even know they could haul coal in a hopper. You're expanding my horizons on what can be hauled in a hopper.
