Nope, hubbys never hauled it. Thank god. He did a load out of AR the other day, rice bran, says he will never haul that again. It was packed tight by the time he got to OKC. He and my son were on both sides of the trailer beating for hours to get that stuff out. I guess it has a sugar in it that makes it pack down. :biggrin_2556:

Way worse than hauling wet and hot Meat and Bone meal. :biggrin_2551:

Wheathauler it's mostly broiler litter tho there is some hen litter around. Mrs. bullhauler's wife it depends on if the rice bran is defatted or not. If not it's approx. 12% oil. Either way it packs and bridges like crazy. I feel for the guys I see at Riceland with those high sided bulk trailers trying to tarp that heaped up mess down.

I get the hen litter but broiler litter? Does this have to do with chickens too? I'm not too familiar with litters.

Yep broiler litter is what they raise the regular broiler/fryer chickens on. They kill those chicks at 6-9 weeks. When they first started around here they'd clean the houses and rebed after each batch. Now they clean bout twice a year I think. They usually bed with rice hulls. The stuff makes good fertilizer. Hen litter is real wet and has alot less N because of what they feed them and them being adult chickens. Hen litter is full of Ca and some people use it as kind of a lime substitute. If you can buy it cheap enough and close enuf it's OK. Can't haul it far cuz of the water weight. Alot of reg. broiler litter is hauled a pretty good ways. Boss talking bout us gettin it in NW Ark. if we can't find it closer. OK is trying to stop the spread over their way cause of PO4 bloom. Litter works really great on cut ground to get it goin agin.
I had a good day today. The crusher I'd been hauling out of ran out of clean rock so the boss sent me to a different 1. I'd never hauled out of there before but I like it alot better. The lady in the scale house was super nice and smiling all day. I like that. The guy on the loader stopped my first load and asked me how I wanted it on even tho they were pretty busy. I made 5 loads and it was a good day. I hate goin places where the folks that work there act like you ruined their day just by showin up. I hope all of you had a good one too.

    Meat birds vs. egg birds.
Likely not much different from each other, but can wait on the response from the connoisseur.

Good Luck. Least you already got your repairs done.

Pawnd, you getting close to trucking?

Gotcha now. Would think the litter would be the same. I believe I would go to that one place for rock, if you can.

Broiler litter much drier and better fertilizer. When chickens first entered this country some bought hen but gave broiler price. They soon learned the difference. Broilers live on the floor free within the house. Feeders run on each side the length of the house. This is where the best litter comes from. Hens are on cages up off the floor. If you get offered hen or broiler for the same price buy the broiler. I take it ya'll don't have chicken integrators in Kansas. It's a bad deal right now. Pilgrim's Pride is shutting plants down and cancelling contracts. What's a farmer gonna do with 400K debt and he can't get chicks?? A very bad deal. Lots of guys haul feed into these plants too . Pilgrim's Pride is obviously hangin by a thread and word is Townsend's is too. Those are the 2 integrators in our area. Alot of our local corn goes to them and alot of my friends haul bean meal, corn, etc.. into the plant. The litter is a great deal for the farmers while it lasts.
