Had forty mile per hour winds from south... tomorrow same speed from the north. The only good thing is it isn't 20 degrees out with the wind. In a couple of months probably won't be able to say that.
Starting to see some farmers in their semi's going to town. Harvest may slowly be starting in some spots.

How's it going in your area RW?

I don't miss all that Kansas wind! It was windy monday and tuesday over this way, but I don't think it was 40mph. It was out of the west. Wheat, do I remember you saying you've got on electric tarp? Does it work ok in the wind, or does it give it problems? The fall I was out there, there were several days when it was so windy, once we got the tarps open, they just had us leave them open and don't even try to roll them.
Went out to Ohio for posts Monday. Tuesday on the way back there were quite a few combines out cutting beans, but only saw a couple in corn, that was in IL, near where US 136 meets I-74. Dad and brother cut some beans yesterday and today, one field made 56, another 50, moisture in the 12 range, but one field still had a lot of green stems. That might be it for a while, the rest still have some leaves on them. -
I had an electric on my dump truck. You just had to turn into the wind and then hit the switch.

Like Kajidono said, basically just get the right way in the wind. It does real well in the wind I've been surprised. Around here they have been using tarp cords that go across the width of the trailer. They keep the tarp from flying off. You put a bolt on each side of the trailer and then the tarp cord bolts on.

We just threw a rope over the middle all the way around underneath and tied it off. The boss's wife learned the hard way what the wind will do the year before, they were telling me.
She'd got the tarp almost rolled across all the way when the wind caught it. She was hanging on to the handle like a hooked fish for half an hour or so until one of the guys showed up. She refused to let go of the thing.
She said several people drove by, looked at her, and kept on going. That's what annoyed her about it. -
They must not have been hopper pullers to just watch her. Around here they would have helped her. Most of the drivers are good about helping as it could be you having problems with the tarp.

Well, farmers I haul for said going to try beans this weekend. Doing seed wheat today. It wasn't much fun today wind was blowing so hard couldn't hardly open the door to get out. Sprained my ankle last night, thought I broke it for awhile. I thought great broke my ankle right before harvest starts.
Wish had T-800 right now they are easier to get into. T-600's are hard to get into with a sprained ankle. A trucker I know broke something in his foot and wore a strange boot for quite a while. He started out with a cast then went to this boot. He was pretty slow unloading but he did it. -
Evening all.. Taking a much needed break.. Finally got a chance to say hi.

Sounds like you have been busy.
