We had .20 last night with more rain today. They say we may have a freeze this weekend. That will hurt some of the milo if it occurs. I should do all right during harvest. I'm a little concerned about this winter though. December, January, and February can be tough. Last winter was terrible financially and the spring wasn't great. Might have to haul salt if any is moving this winter.
Is snow coming your way wheathauler? It is a little chilly here today and they are talking about a freeze tomorrow night. Global warming must be taking some time off winter is starting early.
Our gauge has about 1.3" in it now, rain has almost stopped, won't be any work done today obviously and probably not tomorrow either. Supposed to get down to the low 30's Sat night. What a crazy year. About 3 or 4 years ago, it stayed so hot and dry, everything turned fast, and didn't have any rain out days, people almost had everything wrapped up by Columbus day. This year we've barely started. Going to change the oil in my truck tomorrow, about a 1000 miles early, but might as well get it done while I'm not doing anything else.
Rained for the last 2 days here. We've cut 2 days this week. We've got 900 something acres salted so we're sitting to go hard when it lets us.
We got 4" of rain here yesterday. I spent a week hauling in Mississippi and it rain most of the week then the next two weeks after that I ran local in Houston and it rained off and on for those two weeks, then I come home and take some time off and it has been raining off and on all week.
had 5.75 here in the last 2 days that should keep us out of the fields until late next week but my phone has rung off the hook all day about hauling I think it will be a very good winter While it was wet I got my DOT physical done and priced steer tires I cant decide between hankook at 341 installed or michelin XZE2's at 450 installed I'm gonna have to buy a set but want to wait until after harvest so I put a lot of gravel miles on my old ones Anyone have any advice on these? gonna have to do something shortly
I run BF Goodrich ST244 on the steer and like them real well. I had Bridgestones and Michelin's before and they don't last any longer then the cheaper brands. I have centramatics and they help a bunch.
Just finished my first full week hauling grain. Gotta say, I like this alot. So far the money has been pretty dang good. Going home every night is really nice, will be easy to get used to that. Spent a good part of the week hauling into Adm in Hutch. Boss man has found me back haul loads to Wichita nearly every night this week. So far I am digging this guy. He has been true to his word on everything. Hope we keep rolling hard after harvest is over.
