Raining again here today. We did cut until bout 10 last night. We wouldn't have quit then but 1 of the bosses blew a tire on his combine. It's wet. The gravel roads yesterday were flooded bad. The farmers are trying to drain the rice fields and the Cache river is full and the water is just backing up. Most of the rice is still standing at this point but it won't forever.
-
Supposed to rain tomorrow but should be sunny on friday. Maybe start cutting again this weekend.
-
That's 1 good thing about rice wheathauler we don't wait for the fields to dry at all. As soon as the rice will separate we go for it. It can rain 4 inches today and an hour or 2 of sunshine tomorrow and we're back at it.
-
You all have tracks on the combines though, right?
-
Very few track machines around here. We have mud hogs on all the machines though. They don't worry about cutting ruts cause they roll the fields anyway. Not like rows where you want to preserve your beds as best you can at least if you're notilling or reduced tilling.

Ahhhhh I see. Pretty cool. Can't cut wheat in mud, thats for sure.

They shut that plant down? I used to haul fats in there back in the middle 90's. It was IBP then. -
That is who I am leased to and I am on the regional board but the way things are in trucking most of us stay out two weeks at a time and to be on regional like it states on their web site you need to live in Arkansas or a surrounding state. But I run in the midwest and south mostly from Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas north to Wisconsin and down to Georgia, Alabama and then back home. At the moment I am just south of Clevend, OH going to Jamestown, NY it was a favor or I wouldn't be doing it. It is $1.18 with fuel this week and that is loaded or empty paid to me plus a $.05 bonus. I pull their trailer at no cost. They are making pretty good money, I was at a customer and she had some Oakley bills on her desk and their was rates of close to $2.50 a mile on certain loads, and Oakley basis their rates at 44,000lbs. Not all loads pay that much but they are making pretty good money and they also are into buying and selling commodities, barge lines, etc.... They run 500 trucks. These broker outfits are making good money and lying threw their teeth when they say that is all the customer will pay when they offer cheap rates. lol. -
I see them cutting beans today in Indiana on I-70. It was dry but I am sure they will be shutting down early it is already 41 degrees out.
I seen a big fancy Peterbilt and Kenworth today all decked out like a show truck pulling fancy stainless Timpte hoppers with the under carrige painted to match the truck, I new there was money in grain hauling. lol
