Dad and brother shelled about 20 acres of corn today, some early stuff that was planted in April, tested between 22% and 25%. Tried some that was planted in May like most of the rest, it was around 28%. The elevator in town had us and 2 other farmers shelling, by 5:00 their wet bin was full. This is truly going to be a long miserable harvest around here. I hauled 1 load out of a bin, all day. Sounds like everyone is going to try cutting beans tomorrow.

Normally there is around 6 weeks of steady running for harvest, and then some hit and miss hauling. 6 weeks from now puts us at the end of November, but with the extra time its going to take to dry 25-28% corn, the crapshoot of the weather as we get into December...............this is not going to be a fun harvest..........:biggrin_25521:

I would agree with that RW...not going to be fun harvest. I'm thinking they're going to cut beans here tomorrow. We had a thunderstorm last night... weren't even predicting rain. Wish I was a weathercaster and be as wrong as they are and still have a job.
