OK. Corn harvest is finished...farmers got docked some but least it is cut. Maybe start on milo next Wednesday. My brillant dispatcher called me yesterday to haul a couple loads of beans. Show up to haul beans and they didn't have any. Nice to know dispatchers are on top of things, right!![]()

Wheathauler we've been going strong but we're about to get caught up with the water. Fields right along the river is all we've got left. We like bout 1000 acres of rice and 1200 beans. I 've been driving thru water about 8 inches up on the landing gear about 3/4 mile in and out. Monday night I saw a muskrat swimming ahead of me. Lots of those in the rice fields. Today 1 of the Freightshakers swarmed on me. The emergency kill behind the seat got throwed by the crank handle and when I turned it back on I couldn't get it to crank back up. Ethered it and it would run on the ether but it wouldn't pick up after that. I turned that switch on and off bout 5 times but did no good. Spins like crazy but won't pick up. Knocked the rear window out of 1 of the IH's with a rock. Got it back in today. I'm ready to get done cutting and start hauling out.

Had some long lines today, took about an hour to get through with my first load this morning, an hour and a half this afternoon. Would've been longer, but hardly any trucks are hauling nonGMO beans, so after I get weighed and the test comes back OK, I pass the rest of the line and dump on a different pit. Thought I was going to have time to get down there again tonight before 7, but when I got up to the office this afternoon, they had posted "closing at 6 tonight"!
As people around here start to get done with beans, the corn drying situation could really get ugly. I don't know how it will work, if everyone will shut at noon and we race every morning to see what we can get done, then park the truck in line for the next morning, who knows?? Next week could REALLY be interesting. Probably not very profitable, but interesting at least.dairyman Thanks this. -

wheathauler, do they double crop milo behind winter wheat in your region?
-
Many times they do, this year they double cropped beans. Those would be the two grains they would double crop.

I guess everyone is busy. I had one of the best weeks I have had in months, left the house Monday morning at AM and loaded in Wichita and went to Houston then to Anniston, AL and then Springfield, MO back to Wichita and was home Friday afternoon. And I even sit for a day waiting on a load or I might have been home Thursday.
Do you guys ever see any dumps hauling during harvest in your area? Some farmers down here have them instead of hoppers so they can haul other stuff on the farm like rock, dirt, lime etc.... -
Where has Kansas been? Hope everything is going good for him.
