So what do you drivers use to get your weight right? I have been using a air weigh which works pretty good but is expensive. I had the guage go out but they replaced it on warranty. Originally I used the air guage on my Timpte but that was a pain. Always seemed to be in the grain dust. Then used right weigh wasn't too bad

Sometimes I haul out of railroad pit that has scales. They load you real close with those scales.

    Is everything alright?

I don't think Earl needs some of the things he is asking of you. I'm wondering if they are filling up with trucks a little too quickly and simply changing their long-standing policies because of it.

How long have you been driving? It sounds like Earl is really trying to cover his behind in your case. I can't think of a reason why.

I didn't get my trailer from them, but I'm still surprised at how easy it was to get going. They mailed me my fuel card, activated over phone and I was ready to go. You guys seem to be kinda getting reamed. I'm glad I didn't go that route, but the guys I got my trailer from seem to be screwing around too now. So that's not an option either. They say they're taking all their trailers up to auction, they're done with the trailer rental/sales business. Too hard. I know even I've been late and I'm usually very good about payments.

    Pharm

Just for the heck of it I read the broker agreement that Eclipse had on their site. It said , which I'm sure you know, that you can't haul for anyone that you did with Esclipse for two years. Subject to 20 per cent charge if you do.

If you get any farmers make darn sure you didn't haul any loads for Esclipse for them.
I signed a broker agreement with Reliant and you only had to wait one year with them unless they have changed it.

I knew there was a charge, but I had thought it was 10%. Anyway, the farmers I met were not the customers. The place I was hauling to was the customer. The farmer was just one of their resources so there was a degree of separation.

Either way, I didn't intend to cut out eclipse, I like all they handle for the 10%. If I try to develop a farmer contact it will be because the work is local and better paying. I'd rather have a steady client base then going OTR wondering what's next and if I can get out of there.

I could spend the rest of my life hauling that corn at that rate and would never miss their 10%.

Yes, plus you have the added luxury of usually sleeping in your own bed.

I really don't know what his deal is.he acts like someone burned him in the past and he's not going to let it happen again. here's a list of what he want's

    1) $1000.00 escrow on the trailer
2)some kind of second cargo policy becouse regular cargo wont pay for driver error?
3)front my own fuel to come up to NE from florida to pick up a rental trailer he will get 10% rent for:biggrin_25512:1700 mi deadhead don't work for me.
then he tells me i'll only avg $1.13pm. what happened to $1.65? also the area i like to run will only bring .95 pm gross(fl.ga.al.ms.la.tx ar.mo) iv'e been doing this since 1988 so i guess i have enough exper for him. he also said the good work is in the west(ND.SD and so on)also no fuel surcharge on most loads???? im going to call him on monday and see whats up. dont think it's going to be a happy ending. also want's me to insure his trailer for $40,000. so i pay 10% + $155.00 for insurance:biggrin_25526:it just dosent sound like a good deal for me any more.
    20% broakerage
    $155.00 per mth trl insurance
    $150.00 special cargo insurance
sound like a good deal for him though....... Walt

I would agree a good deal for him. There should be a fuel surcharge, diesel around here is 2.62 a gallon. 95 cents per mile is pretty bad.

Sounds to me like he really doesn't want to rent or lease a trailer. That's an awful lot of demands. Either that or like you said he has been burned before.
