Do they have a big tarp that covers it? One elevator here had a steel frame and tarp around the pile then lifted the tarp up over the frame it looked like a circus tent when all done.

Last time they put white plastic over it and put tires on it. What they will do this time is anybodys guess. I'm guessing white plastic since they've done it that way for years.

Spent the better part of the last month dumping corn into Waltons bunker. That thing is huge! They run straps to keep the tarp in place. First time they tarped it they had the Bethell football team come out and drag the tarp up the pile. Fans every 25 yards or so with 3' diameter plastic pipe.

Got my oil changed today too. Guess I get to change another wheel seal this next week. I need to see if the vent tube is blocked, as that's the second wheel seal on that axle in less than 3 months.

It could be vent tube... might also be your truck sat on lot too long before you bought it. Wheel seals seem to go out when they sit for a while.

Yep, still wet here, we got about .4" Tues, slow drizzle, sprinkle Wed, cloudy but dry Thursday, some guys got back into the corn Fri. So I hauled 1/2 day Tues, all day Fri, didn't start today till after 1, but have some stuff lined up tomorrow for both trucks all day. Been really slow and frustrating. A lot of folks have got things stuck in the last few days. I would say that neither of our trucks have been stuck yet this year, but if I say that, I know they'll both be stuck the next day, so I'm not going to say it. JD combine mechanic friend said they have replaced more hydro's this year than the entire time he's been a mechanic, close to 20 years. Still a lot of corn left here, hard to say what % is left. Seems like it might have dried a little, 19-21% is more common now. I'll be so glad when this harvest is over!

Maybe both!!! One thing I have noticed, Arrow painted the chassis OD black. That #### paint soaked into everything. Next truck I buy will not have the chassis re-painted like that. It is an absolute nightmare trying to do something simple like tracing a wire (or air line) a few feet because of that paint.

Can someone tell me about the convert-a-hoppers? Looking at trailers and have seen these but alas I am ignorant to the convertables. How much more weight is there. Whats the dis/or/advantages. How does it work. Look like half bottom half end-dump. Thanks

The convertibles are heavy. I'm not real sure how they set up maybe have boards on inside. The advantage is you can haul different loads...the con they are heavy. I've know some guys who have had one but haven't seen them set it up.

The guys that I have known that have tried them set up a deal with local feed mills that made sack feed where they would haul sack feed out and then grab a load of wheat back into town but it never worked out that well because the trailer was heavy like wheathauler said and they could haul more in a dry van and deadhead back (all short runs). I haven't seen one in use in a OTR operation but somebody else may have.

One of my first driving jobs I pulled a Wilson floor trailer and would haul sack feed in it, what a pain.
