9 out now a regular heat wave compared to yesterday. Nice setup you have, around here they also use pellets and corn.

It was 0 here this morning. We looked at the corn/pellet burners, but honestly, if you saw where we live, wood makes more sense. We are across the street from where the city dumps the trees that they take down every year. Free wood, basically, just take the saws over and cut rounds, throw them in the truck, and bring them home and split them. We scored an entire Locust tree the other day. It was still green, so won't be ready for a year, but its good hard wood. Burns a long time.
Sometimes I struggle with the heavier stuff, but we've added some tools to help me get the pieces in the furnace. LOL
This furnace is run directly to our plenum on the lp furnace and actually uses the same air ducts that the furnace does, so the heat is evenly distributed throughout the house. Also, it utilizes the same humidifier that the furnace uses, so we didn't loose that feature either. We also ran wiring over to the furnace that Kicks in the big fan on the furnace, when the thermostat on the wood burner kicks on. We don't use that much, only when its really cold out. But it helps. LOL
Hubby would REALLY like to have the outdoor type, to elimintate the mess in the house. I don't mind it, and the exercise carrying wood in keeps me active. LOL
Oh, and hubby likes wood because he gets to buy cool chain saws.wheathauler Thanks this. -
That is a good setup. Unusual to have it going to ducts and can use humidifer too. Be hard to wipe a grin off when thinking about how much money you're saving.

We still have costs involved. Saws, chains, fuel, etc. But its much cheaper than filling the propane tank. -
Kinda slow around here. I think it will be slow until the first of the year. Some years I've hauled up to xmas eve...don't think this will be one of them. I know of one outfit with seven trucks going out of business the end of year. When it's time to buy the plates there may be more.

That's another loss. Too many people went belly up this summer. All end dump op's hauling gravel and sand. A buddy of ours only got 3 runs last week. In the good day's that was the norm for a Saturday. Hope we get out of this bind and comeback stronger.

Hopefully so. I think many more will be forced out... either by low rates or no freight.

Hopefully we all survive next year and it get's better and we all go back to the good days up at 3am back at the house by 5. Each run 25 tons maybe 5 or 6 runs a day. Best of luck to you guys running hoppers and end dumps. Maybe one day i'll be one of the regulars lurking around 1-10 with a shiny lightweight vantage.

Guy out of Abbyville. Were you thinking of Haines? He's been around for a long time.. .there's a bunch of hoppers in Hutch. Sun Valley & E & J are the biggest. Actually E&J is out of canton. You might not know some of these guys since you're relatively new at this.
