We hauled out of the elevators all day today, started snowing late this afternoon. Got a guy we haul for that has about 75 acres of corn left, it all qualifies for a non-GMO premium, we'll haul some of it, some of it he puts in a bin. Not too many trucks hauling into the elevator today, maybe 3 different farmers. About 20 miles north of here, there was still a lot of corn left when I was up there a few days ago. But its pretty much over for us, the elevator didn't need any more hauled out. Only a few places are open tomorrow, probably none Sunday. Just fine with me, I need to change the oil in one truck this weekend and grease both of them. How's the weather in your neighborhood? Get any snow?
Nope, fairly nice day in the 40's. Next Wednesday could be chance for snow or rain. Guess will be hauling for seed place next week. I'm not sure will work Thursday maybe not Wednesday if it is bad. The next couple of weeks won't be productive with Xmas and New Years Day anyway.
I was just thinking, I got fuel today for 2.66 and I was happy. Sad when I think fuel is cheap at that price. I won't say I'm getting old but when I was a teenager I remember diesel being a quarter a gallon.
my leak was the water manifold I went on ahead and ordered the gaskets from cat they were less than 30 buks but when we went to do it thismorning we realized you have to take off the intake manifold to do it so we dumped a tube of bars leak in it before we go that far into it shoot if I'm lucky it might work lol went on ahead and ran the valves while we were at it they were just a touch loose and it definetly runs smoother now not that it was bad to start with though had a guy want me to haul for him today call me early this am but I got him put off till monday its funny how as soon as you go to do some maintnance someone calls figures I guess
what a day!!! the guy i was hauling corn for told me he would meet me at his farm to load me out this morning at 3:30 a.m. WELL... i get up and me and molly pull up to the farm where we are suposed to load out at and you guessed it,he doesn't get there till 6:383 hours late, finally get loaded & gone by 7:30,of course i'm suposed to be at owensboro gr. at 7:30 and it's 176 miles away! so i haul hiney and get there at 9:50(got a free hour cause of time zone) roll into owensboro and there are 57 trucks in front of me,and i see at least 5 who are getting soyhulls, and yep,i'm supose to get hulls too.well i finally get to the scale house and go in to let e'm know to double weigh me for the hulls when i come back from the pit and they tell me they are just about out of hulls and ask me if i want to wait till 8 tonight so i can get a full load,i told e'm to just give me what they had,17 tons 8 ton short of a full load(-$160 to me),left owensboro at 1:30 my time and get back at the mill at 5:15 just to find out they wanted the hulls delivered to a farm i drove by 70miles ago on the way home,so i backtrack 70 miles, unload at the farm,70 miles home. i think molly is more whipped than me,we are both too tired to eat and that's saying a lot for us!! molly is already asleep on the couch.ya'll have a good night
Sometimes I think we'd all be better off getting jobs at McDonalds flipping burgers. I was done, and home before noon today (-400) for the day for me I have a background as a crane operator / instructor. But, there just isnt any of that type of work around here. If I went E or W coast I could make good money. My heart wont let me do it just yet, as I really like to be close to family, but man o man, if rates don't pick up... Did you at least get an apology from the farmer?
Hope the rates do pick up Kansas but I don't know. The rates were lower this year than last. The chances of them going up this winter are slim unless many trucks go under.
