I guarantee that the roads are still crappy. Ours are still blowing shut here. Stay put if you can, because its going to be a couple of days before it gets better, from what I'm seeing.
We have drifts here up to the gutters on the roofs of some places. Hubby went 22 miles south today to see his mom, said the only way he got through was following the graters, and its drifting shut right behind them.![]()

short example of a farm program turned trucking program.
trucks from mexico and canada or any other country in the world are imported and allowed to run the states driving rates down to 50cpm. american truckers cant stay in business at that rate however the government decides american truckers are a strategic asset so they do a study and decide jb hunt can stay in business at 70cpm. to prtect american truckers from total failure the government pays the american truckers an additional 20cpm. now american truckers are making a full 70cpm.
soon you will have non truckers saying holy cow on top of there 50cpm profit the government gave them another 20cpm
if you want to see your banker laugh show him that list of profits them farmers are making then ask him for a farm loan -
The city is quickly loading the snow in trucks and trucking it out of town, so we can get ready for Wednesdays storm that supposed to hit. They pile it up across the street from where we live. When it melts, I suspect that our dock will once again be under water. We don't need any more snow.
Hubbys truck was literally stuck in the driveway here. We had to wench it out, by hooking onto a tree with the wench. I'm heading to the store later for some softener salt, to get the driveway back down to rock, so that he doesn't have that issue again. -
and one again I will plead for mercy for my farmer based trucking company but if it werent for my farm products to haul I couldnt justify a truck and there is not enough commercial truck out there to keep up with the combines farmers will always have trucks and I just prefer to keep mine busy as much as possible
and another thing if the farmers didnt get that money the government would likely waste it on other absolutly worthless crap I just wish it was better distributed I mean if they are gonna offer it I'd be stupid not to take it right?
if they were gonna offer truckers about 2cents a mile subsidy I doubt many here would turn it down
and the best I can figure that about the right proportion in rate subsidy
I dont think many here know the production costs of farming equipment, rent, seed, chemical, FUEL, fertilizer etc there are costs involved just like any other business and great risks as well but we make decent money most years and lose some years too just my thoughts the attacking and ruination of me can begin now lol -
I have no problem with farmers having their own trucks and hauling products for other farmers and themselves. My problem comes when they use their trucks to cut the rates on the commerical jobs that come up. As dairyman says, he doesn't cut rates so it doesn't apply to all farmers either.
I agree with most of what farmermatt says. I came from a farming background and can see both sides.CLC379, farmermatt, bullhaulerswife and 3 others Thank this. -

I've been having fun on the slick stuff all day. Got stuck twice getting out of my driveway and then the trailer was drifted in. Had to put it in 4th and sit there with the wheels spinning until it decided to move. Somebody remind me next time it snows to go out and broom all the snow off the trailer before it half melts and refreezes. Now I need a new broom.
