I don't know much about corn pellets freezing but this cold couldn't be good. I have heard rock will freeze in hopper if it was wet going in.

Yup, so will bone meal, and urea, depending on the moisture that its at when loaded. And urea turns to stone, just like sand would. I guess we shall see. Its actually colder where he is than here, unloading is going to suck for him if its frozen.

A friend of mine just had to chip frozen barley coal from the hopper doors to unload in AR. That was after having the trailer hotwashed on the sides to help free it up, and it was still a frozen clump a few inches thick at the doors. Nothing like a winter freeze to make things challenging!

I'm parked at the house here in GA, and my truck doesn't want to start up every few days in this stuff. The fuel is treated with anti-gel, but I had to hook up the block heater for 3 hours to start it the last time. Good luck to everyone out and about, and stay warm!

Its like 18* in AR. Hubby decided NOT to come home this weekend, but keep running and going south. He's headed to AR with his load and had me check the temps down there to determine how long he has to let the Trlr dry before loading.

We are forecast for -24 for tonight, so I'm kind of glad he's headed south. I just hope he gets through I80 MT with out incident. :biggrin_25524:

-24 Holy cow!! I don't blame him for wanting to go south. I'm guessing loads going south are popular right now.

Got the semi annual state inspection today, plus the inevitable additional repairs. 1 u-joint, clutch brake linkage. $600.00, just need the new IFTA stickers and I will be on my way.

Went to put fuel in and locking caps are a block of ice, nice project for tomorrow when it will be much colder.

If your truck has a 09 IFTA sticker I have a letter From IFTA that says there is a two month grace period.
Let me know if you need a copy

Got that message too when I called IFTA to see where my sticker was. Wonder if they allow grace periods if I owe them something?;)
