I hate to rub salt in your wound, but when you posted about your bad day a week or so ago, you mentioned you had to bounce home from Dodge City. If your dispatcher would have dug a little deeper he would have found some soybeans at Cimmarron. I hauled a load out of there the day before your post and they were wanting to know if I could haul more, so I know there were loads available. It sounds like he either wasn't working hard enough for you, or he just doesnt have enough connections. Regardless, I'm not surprised you're looking elsewhere; good luck with the search. There are good companies aout there - you just have to look for them.Big John Thanks this. -
Highside are you guys still leasing on trucks or you guys full up? Got a friend looking to lease on and haul grain and feed, he was leased with penner trucking. I told him to check you guys out.

Hey Kansas, got your PM, but can't reply back yet...not enough posts! Everything is clear now. Hope everything works out for you. -
Crop jockey, at this time we're not looking to add anyone on. We could use extra trucks at times, but not all of the time. We never want to get ourselves into a scenario where we have to let guys sit because there's not enough work. We also don't want to get into a position where we may be forced to take loads and/or rates that we don't like because we're over-leveraged. We have a number of options to keep our trucks busy, and our customers know that. If they were to start to get the impression that we were heavily dependent them, they'd put the screws to us in a heartbeat. We owe it to ourselves and our lease-on trucks not to get to that point.
If the situation changes, and we have an opening, I'll let you know, and if you have anyone you know is looking, we can get in touch.
See you in the midds line!Big John, wheathauler and dairyman Thank this. -
Smart way to do it Highside. Some guys get big just for bigs sake. Over the years I've seen many an outfit grow way too fast...the result going out of business or severely downsized.
I would also agree with being too dependent on one company. They will take you for granted and as you say put the screws to you. I got burnt doing that and from now on will keep more options open. -
Sounds like ill be in the wheat line at Cargil all week. Say hey if ya see me.wheathauler Thanks this. -
Well,i can't speak for everyone else, but i will be glad for this winter to be over,i spent the better part of 3 hours this afternoon trying to find a short in the light wireing on my trailer,dad-gum road salt
. Finally ended up being a ground wire which of course was the ''last'' one i checked. I really ''dis-like'' any wireing problems, but why is it always raining or the wind blowing like a freight train when you have to run down electrical problems. I have GOT to get me a good shop built this year.
RW. and wheathauler Thank this. -
. The fuel all in the right side.
I am now expert at priming a CAT, better if I still didn't knowwheathauler and RW. Thank this.
