Its done and bobtail I can feel a real difference. Lookinng now for a place in Lil'rock for some tires. I have had to do a lot of work on the truck since taking some time for repairs and moving in to the new house.
Head gasket, water pump, wheel seal, repaired fuel tank and several other little things that had been neglected just trying to make a dime running with E.Darn weather has nnot made it easy for me to get things done quickly plus to be honest after being out for 8 weeks I needed to sound hometime so I honestly haven't been in a big rush.

Brokers sure think different than truckers. Got a quote few days ago and he said it paid over two dollars a mile... griping because they were paying too much. However they wanted you to bounce back empty to haul on contract... that essentially cut the rate in half. I found it amusing they thought they were paying too much. Maybe amusing isn't the word but it will do.
Years ago, hauling on this contract with quite a few trucks. Talking to dispatcher and she was upset, thought they were paying to much because of all the trucks hauling. One would think they would be happy contract was being hauled on. I figured the price was right and the truckers wanted to haul it.highside Thanks this. -
Pays $2/mile, but you have to come back empty, therefore making it pay $1/mile? And they're complaining??? Sounds like something Congress would come up with.
Was a darn nice day here today, made it into the 50's and sunny. They're saying by the middle of next week, it could be in the 70's.That'd be great, I've had enough of cold weather for one year. Washed one truck this afternoon, was great to get all the winter crud off of it. Going to do some polishing on it if we're still not hauling monday.
5mouths, with all that new found horsepower and your own trailer, you're gonna be livin' large!dairyman, 7mouths2feed and HwyPilot Thank this. -
Got bounced out of Horizon today. IDK load at 4:40 pm. Boss out in the boonies at a shooting range, he couldn't receive my calls. Finally got a hold of 29th st. Sure, bring it on he said. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet I was a happy camper with less than a five mile drive, I just knew they were gonna make me drag it 50 miles somewhere. Did I mention i lied and said I had been instructed to take it over there to them LOL.

Then there's the hurry up and wait thing that's killing me in my job. My paychecks depend 100% on how quick I can get unloaded and reloaded. I cant remember the last time I stopped to take lunch somewhere, no way. That means I will miss out on at least one load. Thurs I picked up a nail in trailer tire! The time it took to get it fixed will reflect on pay day for sure.
Out of bed every morning before 5am. I try to be first one in line where ever im headed. I like to stay preloaded if I have beans. Get there early why no one else is around to dump, and have my butt at the elevator before they even open. If im lucky, i get a half hour nap on the scale before the madness begins -
Kansas, the only time I take off for lunch is when I'm stuck in the midds line and walk over to the BBQ joint on 13th. Trucking and lunch breaks don't mix!
Wheathauler, next time a broker complains about paying too much, tell them you feel about as sorry for them as they do for you when you tell them it doesn't pay enough...poor babies, they want sympathy when they have to pay a fair rate, but could care less if we went hungry. It's ALL part of their attempt to keep the upper hand in the business relationship. I'm salivating, waiting for the economy to turn around, so that all the van and flatbed drivers who hooked on to hoppers go back out on the road, the market corrects, and the brokers are all ringing our phones off the hook begging for trucks. Can you say redemption??? SHOW THEM NO MERCY!!!7mouths2feed, HwyPilot, Big John and 2 others Thank this. -
Got 3 loads of corn going to Owensboro with ddg or soyhulls coming back first part of next week, seems like it may be picking up around here a little, ddg prices fell $22/ton last week so feedlots and dairys are trying to get it brought in while its good and cheap.RW. Thanks this.
