Does seem to be some nitpicking on that. Maybe they didn't want any lumber at that time.
-
Yeah, I guess the sawmill had sent them a couple loads earlier this year with no complaints, so they didn't know there was any problem they needed to fix.

Kinda like the load of low-iron sand I hauled to PPG awhile back. They tried to refuse it (said it had iron in it), and I said where can I park and wait? I waited about an hour, and the dispatcher had booked me a round trip when they finally called me in and said they'd take it. I offloaded over a magnet and there was nothing on the magnet when I was done. Not sure what the deal was, but the driver behind me had to go back (up a corkscrew of a mountain). Seems like they play games when they order something and then find out they don't need it - or maybe the boss was making too much money that month
Well, I'm back out and about - hauling feathermeal at the moment for a decent rate. I rested out the first psiatic nerve issue in my life - right leg went mostly numb for the better part of 2 weeks! After being out for nearly a month, I had to lay around and do nothing for about 12 days - other than seeing a chiropractor and spending money.
IFTA filed and I owed $130, heck I'd rather that happen anyday - refunds are basically an interest-free loan to the government.
The trailer I picked up is working out okay, it rides smoother for some odd reason - maybe it's because the one I got rid of was in 4x4 mode from the last owner (10 inches of room between the tires and the frame rails). The 102" width is taking some getting used to, the place I backed into tonight had 2' tall "curbs" on each side of the bay - and the trailer was within an inch on both sides. I was happy to get backed in without taking the landing gear off the trailer! Then they decided to load 500 pounds over what I asked for and put it all in the nose of the trailer, so I'm doing some re-routing tonight to get there as simple as I can. I like seeing the added 10% on my net figures out of the loads, I'll be getting 88% for a change - even though I have to write a check for the trailer every month. Makes me feel a little better to know that I'm paying for my own trailer, instead of buying one (or 2) for someone else.
Hope your weeks are doing decent out there now that the weathers calmed down some, looks like rain this weekend out here in Georgia.dairyman Thanks this. -
Forgot to mention, I topped off the tanks and weighed out empty today - 31,300 with 300g onboard and 2 weeks worth of clothes and food. A little on the heavy side, but I can carry gross on more products now, so time will tell on that one. And after loading, it looks like I need to slide my fifth back a notch or 2 - my steer axle is at 12,600 right now and the rest are barely legal. If it wasn't for being slightly over gross weight I wouldn't even bother driving the backroads tonight - but it makes it more interesting this way

Pilot I was beginning to think we were the only ones pulling 102" wides. Don't see many around here. We got the first one from an elevator guy whose drivers hated it. Bosses like em because they load easy for us.
HwyPilot Thanks this. -
I have opted out of riding around in the wind today. 50 MPH straight line winds they are calling for today. Purchased fuel yesterday for for $3.07, no way I am wasting my high dollar fuel and only getting 3mpg NO Thanks!HwyPilot, bullhaulerswife and Saddle Tramp Thank this. -
We had the same thing up here in Nebr. I had to pick up a load in Monrow, Ne. fighting the wind. After work around 5:30 i followed a box trailer back home & the driver had a hard time keeping it on his side of the road.

I'm already tired of the wind. LOL And like WH said, makes rolling those tarps quite the challenge. -
HwyPilot and bullhaulerswife Thank this.
