:biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559: I'll admit, I have on a couple occasions ran a little over because I wasn't paying attention, but not quite that bad! What's the story behind that picture?

i worked on one in 08 09 and im gonna do the summer of 2010 and come back and run this truck i bought in april, all my previous experiences have been on harvest, driving for my neighbor farming, or running illegal across statelines when i was only 20 (which was the dumbest thing ever)

Wow, just caught the news about the storms out in Kansas and Oklahoma yesterday - I hope everyone out there is alright!

I was busy up in MA yesterday, and unfortunately proved my point about not running retreaded 24's on this trailer. Had to crawl up a curb to make a tight curve yesterday and heard a tire air down...... When I finally found a safe place to park out of traffic a mile later I called a tire shop and surveyed the damage. The wheel was bent to junk, and the tire wasn't even punctured...... Had a bad scuff in the sidewall (probably from when it let the wheel bend, aired down and pinched) but would still hold air if it was mounted on something round.

So a long story shortest, I found the rudest keystone cops tire shop in the NE. I give them the address in front of me and told them I just came out of Quincy headed south. I called them back to confirm everything and make sure they were on their way with 2 tires and a wheel, and they had sent out the wrong size and had to call the truck back.

Well, come to find out there are 2 identical addresses in 2 different towns within 7 minutes of each other up here. The driver calls me up all pissed off like I tried to fool him or something and then accuses me of being lost. I told him I'm not lost, I'm parked right here :).

So he shows up, without a wheel...... and proceeds to beat the tar out of the bent wheel and mark it up like a railroad spike. I ask him where the wheel was I asked for and he starts cussing about me getting him tied up in traffic, and at some point is getting in my face and spitting on me while he's cussing he's yelling so loud.....

Now I'm not one to argue with huge guys holding 8 pound hammers, so I stepped off and called his boss back, to ask him why I'm being billed $80/hour to be screamed at instead of getting my tires round again and rolling. Boss says - put him on the phone - and I said not my phone you're not - this guy is pissed and dangerous - you can call him back to the shop if you want and I might send him there in a few minutes. So he calls him and talks him down out of a tree, and when the boss comes back on the line I ask him where my wheel is..... He says, they're trying to find one now, and I'll send another truck out with it.

So the guy finally gets busy on the tires - off the trailer - and swaps the inside tire out and gets it back on the trailer (too short to match anything new). Tries to get the tire to seat on the bent wheel while he's waiting with no luck at all. About 2 hours have gone by, afternoon traffic has really hit, and he tells me the other truck is on it's way - he's taking off. He apologizes for yelling and screaming, I thank him for it. Off he goes. about 5 minutes later another truck shows up with the wheel, and I'm back on the road 20 minutes later. I wind up signing a bill with no pricing on it because the guy in the truck "doesn't do numbers". End result? $1,009 for 2 retreads and a new disc wheel. I'm not going to split hairs, but this would've been alot cheaper in the shop - and that tire was one of the better ones left on the trailer (I'm now up to 5 replaced in this trip). Too bad they retreaded some Chinese made tire that was junk in the first place, or I'd still have 8 round alloy wheels!

I've had that happen three times so far with non recap tires on mine. You just catch the curb at the right angle and it bends the wheel up every time. Petro charged me half an hour labor to fix the first one, around $45. Hammer it straight and reseat the tire. 2nd time I hammered it straight and a tire shop charged me $5 to reseat the tire. 3rd time I got a used wheel for $50 and a new tire from the national account, $260 maybe. I didn't see that bill. $1000 is a flat ripoff.

Hmmmmm...he might be a little heavy on the front. Better get a shovel and move some to the back!!:biggrin_2559:

Had an incident sort of like that a few years ago at a local elevator. The chain slipped off the loading gate rendering the shutoff inoperable, and it was a pretty fast running spout. The result: a buried hopper. 3 hours, two skid loaders, and a grain vac later, he was able to get out. It was a good day to be on the outside looking in that day.
