The front beam directly behind the rear hopper (shown) was the location of the issues on the older trailers, according to the Wilson dealer I was talking to. They'd replaced the beams completely in the past, costing between $2k-3k depending on the extent of the damage from flexing. They usually crack and/or break out on the back side of the frame rail of the trailer, then the flexing causes damage to the inward bracing.
The fix was to brace up the areas with gussets of 1/4" steel plate, and seam weld the contact and stress points on the subframe unit. I'd have all of them done if it were mine (and I could afford it), but this repair work fixes the main problem area and made the trailer roadworthy again.
cowdoc, wheathauler and RW. Thank this. -

Dang, phones been ringing and e-mails coming in. It's been a while since that happened. Unfortunately it's from some of the lower priced brokers so nothing too exciting. Maybe they're having trouble getting trucks darn.
I told one broker what I needed and they said would check other outfits...basically if no else will haul cheaper they will raise rates. One would think bottom feeders would figure it out but I'm giving them too much credit. -
With the repair bills I just paid, trailer payment due on the 7th, and plates due by the end of next month, I definitely need to keep moving. I'm sure I might as well add property tax to the list while I'm at it. Anyone happen to know what needs to be done for the 2290? I can't even figure out what it's for..... just had to have it filed (and paid) to register my truck. -
HwyPilot Thanks this.

Saw something unusual last week. Robles trucking was trying to broker some loads down to OK and TX. Don't usually see them on load boards.
