Yep, I would say within two weeks or so if the hot weather continues.

Well, I met crop jocky today at Cereral Food in Wichita. Always nice to put a face to our forum names. Cereral wasn't bad in the morning but by one it was getting busy.

Hot and humid. 86 degrees.Hope everyone is having a safe and profitable week out there. I hauled a couple of loads of soy-hulls,but thats about all, kinda slow here. Crops are likeing the sun and humidity though.

All this talk about electrical problems must be catching here in ky. I came in the other night and when i was idleing in the lane,i flipped the fan switch on to cool the motor down as i normally do,and the dash lights started diming and surging. Well, when i got turned around,i thought i would turn all the lights off,and try them again, sure enough, same thing again. Anybody ever heard of something like this? My headlights, fog lights and marker lights are not affected at all,so i'm thinking its either a dash ground problem,or surge protector of some kind, any thoughts from you folks as to what it might be? I'm an idiot when it comes to electrical problems:biggrin_25524:

After talking to a few different people with plenty of experience, the leads at the starter (ground and the fusible link) are usually the primary suspects. Turned out to be my problem, and I had all kinds of stuff going wrong on the dash (random lights, warnings, ecu issues, etc). Apparently the fusible link doesn't always have to blow - they can be damaged and then slow burn because of the damage. Do you have a voltmeter on the dash, and if so, is it reading different than normal when it happens? (mine was about 1.5V lower than normal).

Had enough of air gage line leaking, going to put in new air line today. Should have done it sooner but wanted to get some loads in this week. Talked to friend this morning who was at Cereral Foods early. He told me there was a bunch of trucks over there already. It would have been long wait to unload so decided to work on truck.

Supposed to be near 100 on Sat...this will get that wheat ready to cut. Once wheat harvest starts few terminal elevators ship anything until harvest is done. Guy from Cargill thought might be harvesting the 12 th at their elevator in Cleveland, Ks. That's around 40 miles south of Hutch. Will probably start transferring grain to Hutch once it starts at Cleveland.

Don't count out the rheostat on the dash for the dash lights. Those can cause intermittent problems if they're getting some age on them. Next time they start to act up, try adjusting the dimmer to see if that has any effect.

I don't know, never had exactly that happen, but my bet would be a ground somewhere, they can cause all sorts of screwy stuff. Does it only act up when your fan switch is on, or is that just when it started? You might try switching out the relays/circuit breakers in the fuse panel with ones that you know are working ok to see if that does anything.

I'm dealing with an electrical gremlin also. About 3 weeks ago, the check engine light came on 3 different times one day for about 10 seconds, then would go out. Then the next day when the truck was warming up first thing in the morning, it came on, and it shut the engine down. The temp and oil pressure were fine, so I got it hooked up to the computer that weekend, and it said it was the coolant level sensor going off. Thought maybe it was just barely low enough to maybe slosh around and trigger it, so I put almost a whole gallon more in it. I had it changed so instead of that sensor being able to shut the engine off, it just turns on the warning light. Worked ok for a day, then the next day, the alarm came on so many times I unhooked the buzzer. It kept doing that for about 2 more days, then it mysteriously quit. I've got a new sensor now to replace the other one with, but I think I'm going to leave it a little longer and see if it starts doing it again.

Just finished cleaning the leads on the starter, hwypilot, and ended up finding a loose ground on the starter, and the solenoid on the injection pump was dripping a touch of oil on the starter post,so i'm ordering the gasket set for the solenoid,so maybe that will stop the pesky oil leak on the starter. I hate ANY leak, but one around the starter is just not SAFE. I also went ahead an ordered a new rheostat, highside,i would imagine mine is ready to go bad after 20 years anyway LOL,thanks for all the help, fellers,i really appreciate it :biggrin_25514:I'll let ya'll know if this fixes my problem after i get that oil drip on my starter fixed or at least re-routed:biggrin_25525:
