Come out of hopper, I wonder what they are putting in the hopper! That just sounds bad.

Spotted some farmer semi's coming in today. Saw a couple of commercial trucks at motel...were from Iowa. Temp in 90's today with 30 mph south wind...this will start to dry things out.
I'm guessing if it doesn't rain anymore, in 3 or 4 days, this town will be awash in hopper bottoms. -
Lot's of truck traffic today into the ADM elevators. Most of them were farm trucks and custom cutters so they are cutting somewhere. Some of the harvesters have moved north but their are still some here.
I remember a day when harvest was a hugh thing to do here in Enid. A guy could run harvest and make a grand a day and trucks would come from all over. Farmers and harvesters just had tandem trucks and the lines would be two deep and backed up for a long, long way. Not that many trucks as their use to be, farmers running their own big trucks and instead of hauling to their local elevator they bring it all the way to Enid. You can still do a grand a day from what I am told but your fuel and expenses are a lot higher then back in the 70's and 80's. I think I was born to late and missed all the good times. -
wheathauler Thanks this.

Surprisingly, we cut some wheat yesterday! After 5" of rain on Sunday, and another 1" on Wed, I didnt think we would even "try", until Saturday. Got antsy, yesterday, went walking in a field we have on a hilltop, didnt feel too bad. Went and got combine, started cutting on terrace tops, no problem, so then tried to open the field up and went around the field(40A), still no problem. Cut until about 6:30, then had a minor breakdown that stopped us for the evening. Amazing how fast the ground dried yesterday, when the wind.
My son has 4 loads of higher moisture wheat to haul to DeBruce today, as local elevator manager wanted to get it out. Comark didnt want to ship any out yet, but local manager got his way. So, son gets one day of work on the road. Cutting should really pick up this weekend, then next week, should be plenty of commercial hauling to do.Big John and wheathauler Thank this. -
