Should've posted this last night, but here goes. Anyone know a good shop near Tyler, TX that can troubleshoot an EGR issue on an 05 Volvo/Cummins?

Lost power for about the last 100 miles coming down here yesterday, black smoke, low boost at times, clears up and runs decent some of the time. Have a feeling my EGR valve is closing slow/ sticking open. I'll be looking for a shop this morning here in the area, and can deadhead east with it.

Not seeing a rise in EGT so far, just black smoke that rolls out when it's going on (unburnt fuel). Couple of codes on the dash, EGR temp hi/low and out of cal.

Thanks friends, hope it's a good Monday for you!

I have a 06 cummins in a volvo and when I test drove it, ran like crap we thought it was injectors with the same symptoms it turned out to be a module that was bad, after new injectors and a module it runs like a top

Some people don't understand how close grandparents can be to you, and I'm sorry to hear about your loss friend. My condolences to you and your family, and I hope you can be there for them like I was for mine when my grandpa passed.

I lost my grandpa (pops) in '99, and I miss him more all the time. The man had a big part in my life, and was always there for me when the chips were down. There are some days I wish I could share with him, and I like to think that he can look in from time to time and see the difference he made during his life.

As far as the company goes, I'd be taking the person that had the nerve to call you up the chain to their boss. Have a talk about that situation, and maybe even a one on one ("come to Jesus") talk with that person. If they don't know how wrong that is, you could make sure they do. I'll agree that's classless behavior coming from anyone with an IQ bigger than their own shoe size. What would the owner/president of the company say or do about all this?

NEW INJECTORS AND A MODULE??! OMG - man I sure hope it's not any of that, and I'm glad you caught it before you got yours. That is thousands of dollars friend, the fact that mine clears up and runs well some of the time points to something alot simpler - EGR issues.

As much as I'd like to take this valve off and throw it over the fence, I may just look for a shop this morning to look it over and pull the plug if need be. As much as I hate error codes decorating the dash, I need to get home from TX to GA before my plates expire on Wed. Just afraid to do it under load, and the fuel spent on nothing is a waste.

Sorry for your loss Crop Jocky. Interesting morning I've had. Got to Riceland and the gate was locked. I'm thinkin it ought to be unlocked by now. Another driver was leaving and he stopped and told me they are closed today for fumigation. The bosses had to come and get me. On the bright side I'm first in line in the morning.

Found out yesterday one of our local bottom feeders went under. Dang what a shame.:biggrin_2559:Too bad they ran other trucks out of business before they went under.
