Well, fall harvest is winding down. Beans are about done and the milo is being cut. The rates will be falling there are still too many hoppers around.
-
-
Anyone heard from "Kansas" or 5M2F and how they are getting along?
-
Kansas posted on a thread few days ago can't remember which one. How's your rates Big John? Hoppers are doing ok but not sure for how much longer.
-
Not to bad, but I watch where I go and make sure I end up in places where I don't have to deadhead far to reload, most all my loads are good leaving and I get some pretty good return loads most of the time. I just run Kansas, Okla, Texas and occasionally hit Arkansas, Missouri and sometimes venture to Denver. I ran 2062 hub miles this week leaving Sunday night and returning home Thursday night with a load straight to the house and even lost a day in Kansas City due to a breakdown and couldn't reload until the next day. I ran a $1.51 hub mile to the truck pulling company trailer and I can live with that. I will unload in OKC Monday morning and reload 40 miles away with a preloaded trailer and unload it Tuesday morning in Houston and reload in Houston and deliver about 45 miles south of OKC, this is what I have have worked out so far.
Talked to a Friend of mine (local grain hauler) and he is getting .11 to haul wheat that is 30 miles away from here. Hauling heavy 1,000 bushel to make it pay. $1.83 cpm and dumps 4 lds one day and 5 the next. Problem is all the hopper trucks working here and waiting in lines to dump.
Seen a Sun Valley truck unloading here at ADM Friday morning. -
Sounds like you're doing ok with your load planning. Sun Valley just keeps getting bigger and bigger which is making me a little nervous. They are either going to get huge or go under don't know which will occur.
-
Does Sun Valley run any owner operators or does he own all the equipment? I think you told me he brokers a lot of loads.
-
He's owns all his trucks except for one lease operator. Very few of the big outfits around here own their fleets, most lease O/O's. He brokers some loads not sure how many. I think he's up to thirty trucks or more which is a lot for hopper hauling.
-
I think their was a pretty good size owner operator hopper fleet that just shut down from Larnered, KS or their abouts recently. Can't remember their name but talked to one of their O/O's and he was filing for his own authority.
wheathauler Thanks this.
