I've pulled both too. I like the hopper not as much specialized equipment. Don't have to worry about replacing seals in the hoist and no wet kit required. Also the constant threat of having the dump trailer go over. The plus for dumps is you can haul just about anything bulk.

I have yanked them both around myself,PeteLover, and you do have a LOT more freight options with the dump,i just couldn't get used to having to block up one side of the dump to get 'er level. My old nerves ain't what they used to be:biggrin_25513:,I guess i'm just a ''scardy-cat'':biggrin_25524:,but i sure don't miss having to worry about whether its going to be level or not when i get to a receiver. You know everyone always says ''yeah, yeah,it's nice and flat where your going to have to dump'':biggrin_25521::biggrin_25525:.Do you pull a frame or frameless dump?

Wheathauler, you got all the grandkids gathered around telling them some good ''grandpa stories yet?

    Stay safe out there,Big John.

(Terrible lurker coming out of the woodwork here)

Ya'll know there are two different kinds of guys that pull dump wagons? There are the ones who have turned one over and the ones that haven't-yet.

Got your irons on board? I skipped through there a year ago and got pulled at the port of entry as I was leaving. Lucky they never asked to see my chains....... :biggrin_25514:

Ok, fellas, tell me this is NOT becoming the norm here. For the past few months, I'd say 4 or so, it seems that shippers are booking loads that are not actually made yet, (wait time involved) and then when you get to the other end, the receivers don't have room for what you've brought them. (so you get to wait again) Now I'm not talking a couple hours here, I'm talking involving 24 hours of down time, due to this scenario in a week. The equivalent of hauling another load that week.

Any of you guys seeing this as well, or is it just specific to our brokers accounts?

Well, on the grain side don't have that problem. dairyman or highside might be more familiar with this happening. Seems to me the broker should know whether the receiver needs it right away.

We see this alot this time of year in the dry bulk industry! Also my dad hauls alot of feed ingreedients and thats how shippers and brokers get by with out charging storage. The oldest trick in the book!!!!! Although in dry bulk we get to charge dimarriage after two hours so that tends to help.
