I agree and we complained about the law, the cost of fuel etc... Now we have $3 plus fuel, more rules and regs and all this emission crap and it cost $140,000 for a new truck that gets the same fuel mileage as a 30 year old Peterbilt. O' and we are hauling for the same rates.

God you have to love trucking, because if I didn't I would be a nut at the mental hospital. :biggrin_2559:

I have been hauling to ethanol plant for a different grain company. I will start hauling some milo for a seed company Monday and it pays pretty good. Fuel has been in the 3.09 to 3.19 area, if it goes much higher some of these loads won't be worth hauling.

Are the loads into the ethanol plants pretty steady 5 days a week?

Usually, depends on how big the contract is and how many trucks are hauling on it. The one I'm hauling on now seems to be growing, it was 42,000 left one day and three days later 45,000. I'm guessing some faulty book keeping.

At colwich could work five days and only haul two loads a day if the lines are bad.

I hear ya on Colwich. My grandma lives up there, so on the really bad days, I go have lunch with her while my truck is in line. Good thing about grandma is that she enjoys feeding me as much as I enjoy getting out of that hell hole!

  11. Sorry that I didn't see this post earlier. You could've thrown a rock from there and hit my house. I'm sure you found it OK, though. It's not hidden real well.
