We've got our air gauge mounted on the back wall, right beside the ladder. We load a lot from farmers out in the field, and that's the only place you can be looking both at the pile of grain inside, and see the air gauge at the same time. I've thought about it before, if the DOT look at it and you're way over, but I figured if they're close enough to see it, and you're that overweight, you are probably screwed, gauge or no gauge. The gauge by itself can't prove anything anyway, one of our trailers is legal at about 60 psi, one at 70.
I asked the Wilson salesman about the factory putting it in the back wall, he acted like I was speaking Chinese. I don't care, it works for us.
I saw an onboard scale system, don't remember which one without looking it up, had a wireless readout that you can carry with you and will read the axle weights up to 500 feet away. Now that would be slick!

Wireless?
Now if that isn't funny. Is that kind of like the wireless extension cord?

It might have been Vulcan on board scale.

I've seen some information on it...Uses device with batteries to transmit to receiver. Was fairly expensive. I use air weigh...works pretty good unless they're loading fast. That happens with any air guage though.
My air guage on Timpte trailer worked fairly well, just got tired of standing out in the grain dust. -
Big John
Get on with a hopper outfit yet? -
Well, things getting a little better, start on grain haul Monday...Supposed to last 3 weeks but I think it will be shorter. They say 80 miles roundtrip I say 90 and ask how do to they get the mileage, PC Miler? He said he uses mapquest...Surprised me
PC Miler usually shorts the miles not sure about mapquest. -
Working on it, talked to him last night and everything looks like it is a go except no trailers available. He is trying to get one bought and get me going, it looks like I will be pulling a tank hauling liquid fertilizer also. If this deal don't work out I am going to pull a dump.

No hoppers? Not too big of a surprise. Hoppers are hard to find this time of year. Well at least will be hauling something. Are you going to hauling out of Oklahoma?
Dumps not too bad...hauled them for a number of years. -
I thought we were just coming into harvest?
I was listening to an agricultural report on the radio news. Said grain prices were plummetting as well as the futures. I was thinking this was probably bad news. But really I don't know how this affects us at all. I remember the broker saying that loads were short because the prices went UP. So I'm thinking it might be good for us if they are down?
Either way it's all going to move right? They're not going to let it spoil!
