It has been snowing hard here in Eastern Ia for probably 3 hrs, the wind is blowing like heck, and snowing so hard you can't see 50 ft ahead of you! It sucks... thank god no trucking for me tomorrow, just 16 hrs sitting in a dang skidloader pushing snow! Gotta love the midwest!

Reading Light & Medium truck article on my e-mail. It said FMCSA was proposing a rule that would require EOBR's for all interstate trucks. FMCSA estimates the mandate will affect 500,000 carriers. Will take public comments on the proposal for 60 days once it publishes the rule in Federal Register. As of Monday, it had not published the rule.

I don't like the sound of that but imagine the big carriers would. Also can see it at fmcsa.dot.gov

Yes, things could be worse. I'm not overly ambitious when it's this cold. Loads I could haul were marginal at best.

Don't some of you guys get an AG exemption at least certain times of the year....just like oilfield exemption???

I've yet to see the program for an EOBR that is smart enough to do any
    "Exemption" logging.

It's gonna be a problem if it's mandated and the available systems don't
have the software programs to cover every type of trucking we do.

They have some exemptions for the farmers and custom cutters. I just get a little more creative on my hours.

That would be a glich in the EBOR's but many of the farmers and such only go intrastate. Still you bring up a fair question on using them during harvest and such. I hadn't really thought about that.

I deal with it every day.......most Law Enforcement types aren't educated
enough to understand all of our exemption.
