$3.79 in Danville,Ky. today.
Hey Wheathauler,do you know any one who runs a C13 Cat in your neck of the woods? I know you have a C12. I have a neighbor that is buying a new truck this spring, and he has priced me his C13 purty cheap, and i know he has taken real good care of 'er,plus it has a small flat-top bunk on it that would sure be handy. What kind of mpg do you get running your c12 loaded and empty? Oh,forgot to post this. It is a 10 speed with 3:90's on tall rubber.Last edited: Mar 11, 2011

Get 6 mpg with 10 speed, 3:70 rear ends, low rubber. Have one friend who runs C-13 hasn't had any major problems.
dairyman Thanks this. -
I think the biggest savings on running the smaller motors is the weight over fuel mileage. Local hauler just bought a 2000 379 with a 63" stand up sleeper that has a small Cat not for sure which one a C-12 or C-13 and says he weighs about 800 lbs less then his Freightliner FLD flattop with a big Detroit.

I paid $3.69 for fuel here yesterday and seen it as high as $3.79 at other places. -
Seen $4.12 last week in Seattle. I was happy to get back home as $3.75 is starting to seem like a good price.

The last time when fuel went up. in 2008 or whenever, was different in that they raised the rates much faster. Last job tried to get the rate raised and was met with a fast no. The famous "someone is hauling it for that". I'd like to meet that someone and give him what for. Someone is the brokers bogyman to keep rates low.

Someone is hauling it. Doesn't mean they are hauling it for that rate or that broker.
-
If someone is already hauling it for a low rate, then WHY ARE THEY CALLING IN THE FIRST PLACE????1988pete379 Thanks this. -
Years ago I was sitting in the old truck stop in Fontana, CA I was empty and pulling a flatbed and had a load but couldn't load until later. I was sitting their listening to the BS on the radio and a heavy set Spanish guy nicely dressed is walking the parking lot and comes up to me hands me his card and ask if I needed a load and I told him no and he said I need a load moved and will pay a good rate, I just said no thanks and he walked on. I thought if you got to get out and walk the truck stop lot like a hooker you got to be a bad news broker.
wheathauler Thanks this.
