Just curious but why? I like it because it stays lighter later in the evenings. I've just never heard a good argument against it other than "I don't like it" and never followed by a reason.
I'd like them to leave it at the time it is now. It was originally started during one of the World Wars to save fuel use (if I am remembering correctly). I could understand it then, but just don't see any reason to keep it going. I'd like them to leave it at the spring setting if they were to get rid of it. Arizona, or parts at least do not follow daylight savings time.
If it wasn't for daylight savings time we wouldn't know when to change the battery's in our smoke detectors. HA.
I had an load offered to me that involved hauling grain dust. That's the crud the elevators get from their filters. It's really dirty and usually hauled by end dumps in my experience. I didn't haul it mainly because if paid by the ton and the stuff is light and bulky. 66" sides aren't good for anything bulky. I was also leery how the stuff would come out of the hopper.
If it's milo dust it oughta come with 10 free showers and hazardous duty pay. I'm scratchin' all over just thinking about it.
Just wet it all down before pulling back on the scales WH. If anyone asks just tell them it is a EPA requirement.
Well, got some loads lined up for next week, transferring some wheat and milo. It could pay better but it's not bad. It pays better than some of the longer hauls I'd looked into.
I have been hauling some corn to the feedlot and wheat back in and then getting one more wheat load into the elevator each day, that makes for a full day. The rates always could be better at least here the fuel has stopped increasing for know. I had a load of corn rejected this week at the feedlot because it had to much crap in it and had to haul it back but only got paid half the rate for hauling it back. Is this the norm for rejected loads? What was funny a friend of mine loaded behind me and they took his but then called and told them they wanted no more loads from that Coop. A truck that loaded before me was also rejected. Hope every one else is doing good and surviving.
Yep, that's usually the rate they pay for rejected loads. I had them pay me more one time but I went to two feedlots and was rejected. I took it back where I got it and got more than full rate. Your friend was right not to take any more from that co-op they had a problem with their grain.
Wheathauler,i got all of that farmers corn hauled this week that i told you about.Only got 3 loads of s-hulls back out of 5 though. The farmer was kind enough to kick another dime in on the 2 loads that i had to deadhead back for,so that helped some. Fuel seems to have leveled off here too,Big John. At least for now. $3.69-$3.79 here in Danville. How are you liking your KW,BigJohn?
