So ADM closes at 4. Cargill closes at 4 here also. ADM in Hutch is open till 4:30 which is good. In just that extra 30 minutes a person can get another load in.

Cargill wouldn't be so bad closing at 4 but they have safety meetings in the morning and don't open until 8:15-8:30 or later. Too cheap to pay workers overtime to come in early for safety meetings.

You wouldn't happen to be going to the feedlot where they give you a little slip of paper at the scale to give to the mexicans in the feed mill control room, would you? If so, tell Doc in the scale I said hi...if he's in a talkative mood :biggrin_2559:

Just once I'd like to get about 20 or 30 trucks to agree to staying away from one of those early closing elevators for the whole day, and then all show up 10 minutes before closing time. Maybe they'd get the message then!

Safety meeting at 8AM at ADM also and the workers show up at 8AM and they usually start probing about 15 min later. Their were three of us raced to get dumped and I was third and pulled on the scales at 3 min till 4 and the guy in the pit was pissed. Got to love it. At least the country elevators stay open till 5 so I can get reloaded.

Went loaded my corn this morning for the feedlot will have to be up early and trucking Monday so I can get a lot done, you want me to call you at 4AM WH for a wake up call. :biggrin_2559:

Thats the one Wheeler Bros. and yes you have to see what kind of mood he is in. The first few times I went in their he didn't say anything then one time I brought up that I use to haul cows out their back in the mid 90's and asked about some of the old hands and boy he started talking. It is a pretty good place to unload and pretty fast for a feed lot if their not weighing cattle. I was their last week and we sit their until about 11 to get scaled in because they were shipping a bunch of cattle to National Beef.

I was not impressed with the National Carriers cattle trucks that were there loading, years ago they had a top notch fleet and a bunch of good guys. Know all you see is mostly junk pulling their trailers and mexican drivers.

I think our contract is done at the end of the month and they have some contracts with others so I will be done and back to mostly hauling elevator to elevator.

I remember when elevator hands would open your hoppers but I guess that is a thing of the past. I seen signs up down here at ADM as of July 2010 that drivers have to open their doors. The only thing they will do here is flip the switch to dump your suspension.

There's an ethanol plant here that opens your doors. But they don't do it to be nice, they do it because each hopper has it's own pit and is VERY fast and the farmers are too slow and it holds up the line. They like to open the doors one at a time and only about 4" and watch it, even our trailer with air doors can't back the pit up.

Around here farmers are like dump trailers. You get stuck behind one your going to be waiting.:biggrin_25516:
