Yep, $7 used to be a decent price for beans, but $7 corn is crazy. I guess the corn price is great if you are lucky or smart enough to be selling it for that, but long term, I don't think its a good thing. The corn price and oil price is causing everyone's price of food to go up, not to mention how its squeezing the livestock producers and causing overseas customers to look for other alternatives. And driving up the cost of most production inputs- fertilzer, land, etc.
I think things would have been better off with $4 corn and the costs for everything else to remain close to the same. Oh well, it is what it is, good or bad, we have to deal with it.![]()

The weather hit a rough spot here in northern Georgia last night around 10pm and took out some of our larger trees. Luckily they missed everything important and just took out other trees..... made for a busy morning. Hope everyone else did alright and got through it safe.
dairyman Thanks this. -
Took a load of corn to the feedlot today and was the twelveth truck today and three more showed up behind me and then when I went to weigh out two Kansas trucks from Kingman showed up and was not even allowed to weigh in for some reason. DOC was so mad he wouldn't even talk and he didn't even tell me to have a good day when I left and he usually does.
That was my last load to the feedlot, contract was done so going to haul some milo tomorrow. Unloaded behind a Kramer truck today in Enid another cool looking truck. -
Don't you know ALL the Kramer trucks are cool??? -
WH, you book some loads south next week. I am hauling milo first of the week and will be around town most of the time.
What is the name of the mill in Wellington? I use to haul midds out of their years ago and can't remember the name of the place. I see some loads of wheat occasionally going to Wellington. -
Haven't yet but thinking about it. It depends on whether the auger in the elevator I was hauling from gets fixed. It's been down most of last week and I decided to work on truck during that time.
Sorry don't know what the mill name is in Wellington, highside probably does. -
highside Thanks this.

The mill in Wellington USED to be a Horizon, aka Cargill mill, but they shut it down a couple of years ago. Now, a grain marketing alliance owns it. All they use it for is storage capacity.
There's also a Scoular rail terminal in Wellington. That's probably where most of the wheat you've seen has been going, John.Big John Thanks this. -
